Literacy Tasks and Resources:
ReadingL.I: To evaluate a text of your choice.
SC: I can choose an appropriate text to
read. I can select at least 4 challenges
from the reading grid to complete. I can complete my work in my home
learning jotter.
Choose a text of your choice – it can be a book you are currently reading, a newspaper, a short story or a magazine.Use the reading grid and select 4 challenges to complete.
If possible – Complete 5 challenges from the reading grid.
Extra – Complete 6 challenges from the reading grid.

SpellingL.I: To spell common and tricky words.
SC: I can select the appropriate chilli
challenge level. I can spell my spelling words correctly. I can choose an appropriate spelling
strategy to use.
Choose spelling words to challenge you. Find out the meaning of any words you are unsure of.
Each day use a different spelling strategy for your words e.g. pyramid words, rainbow writing etc. Why not create your own elkonin boxes?
If possible – use the look, cover, write, check sheet provided after words.

Writing – Muirhead’s Big Writing WeekL.I.: To create a diary entry.
SC: I can give my writing a heading. I can include and opening
paragraph to inform the reader. I can describe events in a logical
order. I can write in the past tense. I can end with a concluding
paragraph.
Using the writing sheet, you will write a diary entry about a day in lockdown. You may choose to write about more than one day.I have included a feelings word bank, to help you talk about how it has made you feel.

Here is an example of part of a dairy –Tuesday 14 th April 2020 Today I woke up feeling sad, I miss my friends. After breakfast I decided to get dressed quickly and do the Joe Wicks workout. It was great fun…but exhausting. It did help though and I now feel a lot happier. After I cooled down I decided to do some school work. I finally managed to get logged on to Sumdog and I competed against someone else who was online. I really enjoyed it and I won!

Let’s look at our number line:
We know that this is zero. If we count in ones, we reach 20.
Numbers below zero are called negative numbers and are written like -1.
Numbers above zero are positive numbers and would be written like 1.

During the coronavirus outbreak many charities have been affected. Some charities have seen an increase in the number of people requiring their support. These include:
Foodbanks Charities supporting people who are isolated from (away from) their
families. Charities that support people having financial troubles.
TASK This week we will focus on foodbanks, research and answer the following –
What a foodbank can provide. Who can use a foodbank? Are there any local foodbanks? How do they receive donations? What can you do to support a local foodbank?
If possible – Pick a local foodbank and complete further research about them.
Extra – Create a poster advertising the foodbank you researched.
