Blockchain
Bitcoin = BTC (2009)
Technology & math of BTC
Hardware for BTC:
breaking cryptographic hashes (sha256)
Network & design improvements
(consensus)
Proof of work - PoW (Bitcoin breaking hashes | power consumption)
Proof of stake PoS
Hybrids Proof of Activity ( Peercoin, )
Alternatives (Proof of capacity,
Internet today
DNS (centralized, trusted)
SSL -> HTTPS certificates: (trusted, centralized certificate authority, known MiTM attacks)
Emails (centralized, GPG hard for some people, matadata not hidden, )
Online cloud storage (even harder for people to protect data before uploading to cloud, data loss very possible MegaUpload)
Online buying and selling (centralized, everyday frauds)
Social networks, Censorship,
Privacy/Anonymity/Security
We have blockchain
DNS decentralized = zero trust (Namecoin) domain much cheaper and can not be censored. DHT + Public key crypto + hashes
No need for CA end-to-end encryption(e2ee) by default (similar to Tor network)
Email always encrypted, distributed to other nodes, e2ee (Bitmessage, )
Cloud storege -always encrypted by default, distributed to other nodes (redundancy), much cheaper(StorJ, SiaCoin, Datacoin, ...)
We have blockchain
Online buying and selling bitcoin (slower but more secure), decentralized (no single point of failure), frauds are much harder, fees are much much lower or almost none.
Privacy/Anonymity/Security stealth coins (Dash), no personal info that ties persons to their accounts, no IP (no geolocation), DdoS are harder on neer impossible with hard enough PoW.
Future is good!
Web 3.0 will be on blockchain.
IoT can be secured on network layer not hardware (work in progress)
Security and privacy in design not like (FTP+s, HTTP+s, s+MTP, )
Secure and anonymous online voting (work in progress)
