Blended Methodology

Executive LLM Program

“Unusual situations demand exceptional lawers”

The learning methods used throughout the Executive LLM course are eminently practical, based on teamwork and the case method – the same methods used in our face-to-face programs. The Executive LLM uses primarily asynchronous on-line learning, and video-conferences may be used in exceptional circumstances, for example, when a professor wants to review important points. Campus On Line is the primary software platform used by Executive LLM participants and faculty for the on-line portion of the program. By accessing Campus On Line with their individual access codes, participants are able to obtain general information and announcements about the program, as well as to access separate areas for each on-line subject.

Within each subject area, participants interact with colleagues and professors, completing a variety of tasks in the on-line environment. These tasks vary according to the nature of the particular subject, and may include team or individual assignments to draft contract clauses or complete problem sets in accounting or finance. Other subjects follow the business school case method, where participants work in teams to solve practical case problems and propose their solutions in a virtual discussion forum moderated by the professor.

In any case, this portion of the Executive LLM Program is configured so that with a bit of diligence and effort, participants can readily complete their on-line tasks while at the same time continuing to meet the demands of their professional careers. Nearly all of our on-line work is asynchronous, meaning that the virtual forums are open 24 hours a day, allowing participants to post their written comments at whatever time is most convenient for them. A major advantage of this learning methodology is that all comments are recorded and visible to everyone in the class, thus leading to deep reflection and analysis of the issues under discussion.
