Blackjak® is very effective at low dosage meaning low cost per hectare

Blackjak® is very easy and convenient to use. The liquid has high solubility in water so is easy to use. There are no special requirements for transport or storage.

Blackjak® has a uniquely acid pH rather than very high alkalinity of most other humic products

Blackjak® lowers the pH of spray solutions, in many situations enhancing pesticide activity and contributing to more rapid uptake of foliar nutrients

Blackjak® is 100% natural and suitable for organic farming

Blackjak® contains all components of humus. Humic, Fulvic and Ulmic acids plus Humin. All four components are synergistic in promoting greater root growth, vegetative development and general plant health

Blackjak® contains natural forms of important nutrients , N, Cu and Zn

Blackjak® applied to soil helps improve soil structure, reduces effects of salinity, enhances nutrient uptake and microbial activity and increases cation exchange capacity of soil

Blackjak® applied to foliage aids in photosynthesis, increases metabolism, and promotes hormonal activity.

Blackjak® can be applied as part of the fertigation process through drip irrigation or in combination with foliar nutrients or pesticides.

BLACKJAK APPLICATION RATES AND RECOMMENDATIONS (use lower soil rate if combined with foliar application)

CROP SOIL FOLIAR

Potatoes, carrots, onions Broadcast application at 2-5 L/ha. Or band application after seeding at 1-2 L/ha.

When plant is 10-15 cm high, spray 1–2 L/ha. Same rate can be repeated 2–3 weeks later.

Cotton, corn, wheat, cereal, sorghum, sunflower

Apply after seeding (pre-emergent) at 2-5 L/ha.

When the plants reach 20–25 cm high apply 1/2–1 L/ha. Can be used in combination with foliar fertilizers, plant growth regulators or pesticides. Repeat application after 3-4 weeks.

Vegetables: Tomato, eggplant, capsicums, pepper, beans, melons, curcurbits, cabbage, lettuce

Broadcast application at 2-5 L/ha. Or band application after seeding at 1-2 L/ha.

Used with foliar fertilizers at a rate of 1 L/ha when the plants are 10-15 cm high. Repeat same dosage 3-4 weeks later.

Vegetables (greenhouse) After seeding/planting apply in band at 200 ml/1000 m2 .

In transplanted crops irrigate the seedlings after transplanting with a solution of 200 ml BLACKJAK per 100 L water. Apply with drip irrigation every 3–4 weeks.

Vineyards and orchards (pome and stone fruits, cit-rus, olive, nuts, coffee, rub-ber tree, banana)

When vegetative growth begins, apply mixture at 100 ml in 20 L water evenly beneath canopy for each small to medium sized tree or every 10 linear meters of vines. For large trees over 3 meters tall use 300 ml in 40 liters of water. If a drip system exists, apply at 2.5 L/ha with drip fertilizer. Follow soil application with 1-2 foliar applications per label recommendations or repeat soil application after 5-6 weeks.

Can be applied with foliar fertilizers at the rate of 100 ml/100 L water sprayed directly on developing leaves. Repeat BLACKJAK application after 3-4 weeks.

Ornamental Trees, Shrubs and bedding plants

Trees and Shrubs: Apply 150 ml in 20 liters of water evenly beneath canopy of small to medium size trees and shrubs. For large trees use 300 ml in 40 liters of water spread evenly beneath canopy. Ornamental Bedding Plants: Apply 30 ml in sufficient water to cover 10 m2 prior to planting annuals or just after perennials have started vegetative growth.

For small trees and shrubs spray canopy at a rate of 10 ml/10 liters of water once leaves have developed. Repeat application 3-4 weeks later. For ornamental beds spray 15 ml in sufficient water to cover 10 M2 directly on developing leaves in spring and repeat after 3-4 weeks.

What is ?Blackjak® is an innovative liquid suspension of completely decomposed organic matter. Blackjak® is 100% natural, being composed of pure Leonardite and contains Humic, Fulvic and Ulmic Acids, Humin and naturally occurring nutrients. It has the unique and very important characteristic of having an acidic pH (4.2).It is well established that humus is very beneficial to soils and plants, but in the past it has been impossible to extract all of the active substances of humus from organic sources such as Leonardite.

Due to the differences in solubility of the 4 major components of humus, chemical extraction methods have only been successful in extracting some components. Current extraction methods involving Potassium or Sodium Hydroxide are only successful at extracting the Humic and Fulvic acid content of Leonardite with the resulting solution having a very high pH (9+). Solutions of such high pH have many drawbacks, such as incompatibility with other fertilisers and pesticides. These limitations brought about the concept of Blackjak®. German researchers developed a unique process whereby all of the ingredients from the source material are combined in a suspension concentrate resulting in an acidic pH (4.2)

Active Ingredients of Fulvic and Humic acids have well established benefits to soils primarily through ‘indirect effects’, acting as activators of soil microorganisms and changing the dynamics of soil nutrients.

Ulmic acids and Humin have a more ‘direct effect’ on plants. Certain components of Humin are directly absorbed by plants and transported in the vascular system to act as catalysts for metabolic processes. Humin has also been found to contain identified growth hormones known to promote root growth, vegetative and general plant development.Ulmic acids have the ability to ionize metals acting as powerful chelating agents. Like Humins, Ulmic acid is known to stimulate and increase root growth.

Active components of Humus Solubility

Humic Acid Soluble only in alkaline solution

Fulvic Acid Soluble in acid and alkaline solution

Ulmic Acid Alcohol soluble portion

Humin Insoluble portion

Benefits of Humic Material in A. Supply of nutrients to the plant. The naturally occurring nutrients found in Leonardite are also available in Blackjak®. Blackjak® is a source of micro elements such as Cu and Zn. Macro elements such as P, N and S become more readily available due to the stimulation of the mineralisation process by the humic material. Blackjak® also acts as a chelating agent complexing with cations and metals to enhance uptake of nutrients into plants.

B. Improving soil structure.Promotes the formation of stable aggregates between particles preventing soil compaction due to increased aeration, better circulation of water and increased capillarity

E. Effects on Energy Metabolism, Protein Synthesis, Nucleic acids and Enzyme activity.Studies show that humic substances can have direct effects on photosynthesis and respiration in the plant. Humic substances enhance the production of RNA (Ribonucleic acid) a vital component of several biochemical processes within cells. As a result increases in concentration of enzymes like catalase, peroxidase, diphenoloxidase, polyphenoloxidase, and invertase activate the formation of proteins.

F. Hormonal Activity. The components of Blackjak® also have well documented hormonal activity. Humic acid is known to inhibit indoleacetic acid oxidase meaning a reduction in IAA breakdown. The resultant increase in IAA activity stimulates plant growth in much the same way as auxins.

G. Increased water holding capacity.Humus acts as a water sponge in the soil. Blackjak® improves the soil structure which facilitates water infiltration and holds water. Because of their large surface area and internal electrical charges, humic substances are able to hold seven times their volume in water.

H. Increased permeability of membranes.Humic substances have direct effects on cell membranes. Humic acids influence both hydrophilic (having water affinity) and hydrophobic (lacking water affinity) sites on membrane surfaces resulting in increased permeability of cell membranes. Trace elements move more readily back and forth through cell membranes facilitating greater mobility of nutrients to sites of metabolic need.

Blackjak chelates or complexes nutrients at the hydroxyl or carboxyl groups on the humic acid molecule.

The plant root can capture the nutrient from the humic molecule of Blackjak.

Uncharged surface of sand particles cannot hold nutrients Coating of humate provides

charged surface to hold nutrients

Large amounts of nutrients not held in soil and lost to leaching

More nutrients held in soil and not lost to leaching

Ca, Mg, K, Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe, B

C. Increased Microbial Activity.Blackjak® provides a readily available source of C which stimulates the rapid development of soil microbes. The abundance of beneficial soil microorganisms is a significant factor in improving soil fertility.

D. Increased Cation Exchange Capacity. The active components of Blackjak® are made up of many negatively charged molecules. These molecules attract positive ions (K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu, Mn, Zn) increasing the soils ability to hold onto nutrients and reduce leaching of vital elements.
