Congratulatory Letter

As the Senior Pastor of Wake Chapel Church, I am very privileged and honored to highlight this notable milestone in the life of our church and its ministries. Heartiest Congratulations are extended to the cadre of ministers-in- training, ministers, and deacons- elect who are the desig-nated participants during the Ordination ceremony. In their respective positions, they now will serve as Licensed Ministers, Ordained Elders, and Ordained Deacons. To God be the Glory!

Their ordination and elevation to these positions of service are indica-tive of the vitality, growth, and sustainability of our church and congre-gation. Significantly, the occasion underscores the culmination of com-mendable dedication, hard work, and commitment over many years. It has been a delight to witness their development and perseverance in faithful preparation for the advancement of God’s Kingdom.

The scripture clearly admonishes those who desire to serve fruitfully to “study to show themselves approved unto God, workmen that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” I have confidence that they have achieved these high standards of leadership, spiritual maturi-ty, and Christian comportment.

With a keen sense of purpose, these inspired servant-leaders have studied, prayed, and executed with due diligence the protocols and guidelines of Wake Chapel Church. In some instances, they have suc-cessfully competed rigorous university requirements as well. However, most importantly, they all have demonstrated their faithfulness to Bibli-cal principles- the living, dynamic well-spring of hope, strength and vic-tory in our personal lives and ministerial endeavors.

In closing, I sincerely applaud all the disciples, ministries, administra-tors, and mentors who have played pivotal roles in making this a joy-ous, memorable celebration. Special thanks to the many families and friends of our honorees whose support and encouragement have been invaluable and immeasurable.

May God’s precious blessings and Spirit overshadow the entire house-hold of faith on this momentous occasion.

With love and gratitude,

Bishop J. Jasper Wilkins, II

Words of Encouragement!

Congratulations! We, the Ordination Committees along with Bishop Wilkins’ endorsement, rejoice in your calling, accomplishment and what the Lord has and is doing in your lives today. You have reached another milestone. It’s a defining moment for each of you. Today, you stand on the threshold of a lifetime of ministry. We know the Lord will use you beyond your highest expectation. Ephesians 3:20 - 21 KJV states it best, “Now unto to him that is able to do exceeding abun-dantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ag-es, world without end. Amen.” Today we thank God for your parents, grandparents, spouses / signifi-cant others, children, loved ones, friends, teachers and mentors who have poured into your lives to make you the godly men and women you are. We know God will let your lights shine, not only here at Wake Chapel Church but throughout the world, to extend and enrich the body of Christ. We sincerely wish you Godspeed on your spiritual journey. Be wise. Be vigilant. Keep your heart before the Lord and seek Him every step of the way. Again, congratulations! Blessings,

Deacon Select Rickey Matthews hails from Jersey City, New Jersey, where he grew up in a devout Christian home with six siblings. Early on, his parents instilled in him and his brothers and sister strong family, ethical and spiritual values. These core principals have him served him very well throughout his youth and adulthood. Though next to the youngest of the children, he took on a key leadership role in his family, happily assisting his parents and modeling accountability and good decision-

making for others.

Ambitious and eager to learn, he studied hard and graduated from Snyder High School. He then commenced his college career at Upsala College in New Jersey. Later on, he matriculated at Saint Augustine’s University where he received his bachelor’s degree in business organization.

With no aversion to hard work and service, he served in the soup kitchen, taught Sunday School, conducted devotions, ushered, and handled custodial duties. As the Pastor continually observed his outstanding dedication and spiritual maturity, he ordained him as a deacon. Though quite young, he served faithfully and commendably in that role for a number of years.

As a disciple at Wake Chapel, he has continued to be involved in the ministry and to seek opportunities to utilize his talents. He has served on the Prayer Ministry, the Men’s Ministry, and the Food Service Outreach. He regularly attends Sunday School and Time of Empowerment. Driven by his superior work ethic, he is a very dependable volunteer for special events, trustee initiatives, and any other related function that enhances the operation of the church.

While living in New Jersey, Deacon Select Matthews worked for the New Jersey City University as a program assistant also the Jersey City Exploration Museum. Upon relocation to Raleigh, NC, he worked in the Wake County Public Schools. Presently, he is

In Haiti, Julian helped package and deliver over sixty bags of food to Haitians in Calebasse, led several prayer walks and assisted with the renovation of a local Haitian church.

Julian graduated with honors from Vanderbilt Divinity School with his Master of Divinity Degree, May 2018. Additionally, he was awarded the Kelly Miller Smith Institute on Black Church Studies Certificate. At the completion of his graduate studies, Julian accepted the position as Youth Pastor at his home church of twenty-six years, Wake Chapel Church in Raleigh, NC, under the leadership of Bishop J.
