Gandhi JayantiOn the occasion of MahatmaGandhi’s birth anniversary, avideo was shown to thechildren about the unknownfacts of Mahatma Gandhi andhis favourite bhajan wasplayed. This was followed by adrawing activity on the valuesof Gandhiji- See no evil, Hearno evil and Speak no evil.

International Day of the Elderly‘International Day of the Elderly’was organised on 1st October.Children invited their grandparentsto join in the virtual celebration videan invitation card made by them. Avideo was compiled and shown bythe Class teachers, of the childrenwith their grandparents. This wasfollowed by a few performances ofthe children and an interactivesession with the grandparents.

World Postal DayOn 9th October, World Postal Daywas celebrated to create anawareness regarding ‘PostalServices’ by showing a video onthe functioning of the PostOffice. An activity was organizedwherein, Nursery childrendesigned their own stamps andKG children were guided to writea message on a post card andpost the same with the help oftheir parents.

World Food DayOn 16th October,’ 75th World FoodDay was celebrated’. Children weresensitized towards growing,nourishing and sustaining the foodvide a video presentation followedby a poster making activity ‘All TasteNo Waste’

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY:- ‘DUSSHERA’Ringing in the celebration time andfilling every heart with the joys offestivity, the students of classes I Band I C presented a specialassembly on ‘Dusshera’ conveyingthe message of - victory of goodover evil. Excellent narration ,brilliant enactment and gracefuldancing added rich hues to theentire performance giving abefitting start to the festivalseason.

CELEBRATIONS:-A) Gandhi Jayanti :• To commemorate the 151 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi,

students narrated stories and also spoke about his life revering our‘Father of the Nation.’

• Students and teachers also spoke about the life and ideologies of oursecond Prime Minister of India, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastriji, whosebirthday too is celebrated on the 2nd of October.

• Children also attempted a quiz in the google forms based on the lives ofthe two great iconic leaders- Gandhiji and Shastriji.

B) Culinary Week :Students of Classes 1 & 2 celebrated the Culinary Week with great enthusiasm wherein they learnt about the following –1. Knowing the various kitchen tools (5.10.20)2. Different ways of cooking (6.10.20)3. Laying the table (7.10.20)4. Preparing a healthy snack / recipe writing (8.10.20)

C) Life Skill Activity –Napkin Folding – As a part of the culinary week celebrations varioustechniques of folding table napkins were taught to the children. In addition toimproving motor skills, this can even be compared to the art of origami whichhelps to develop the thought patterns and coordination skills.

D) Dussehra celebrations -A craft activity was taken up whereinstudents made hand puppets of Ravanaand pasted their vices on it therebypromising to get rid of the negative aspectin themselves.

D) WORLD MATH DAYOn the occasion of World Math Day students learnt about Fractions videactivities like ‘clay modelling’ and ‘dancing on the newspaper'. This wasfollowed by a google quiz on logical reasoning.

3. i) BEING AEROFIT - (FOR PARENTS &CHILDREN)An intrasection Aerobics competition washeld virtually for the students of classes 1& 2 on the 3rd of October. The youngcontestants paired up with their parentsto put up a spectacular show. Theresponse was overwhelming as theparents were very happy with thisinitiative taken by the Sports Departmentkeeping in mind the physical fitness of thechildren during this pandemic time.

ii) FITNESS PROGRAMME FOR STUDENTS‘To enjoy the glow of good health, you must exercise’- A 30 minute daily physical fitness session wherein children have to update their data regarding exercising every day has been initiated.

PODCAST :- Podcasts were prepared in all subjects by the teachers andshared with the students every week. These podcasts were discussedwith the students during the online sessions.

Special Assemblies:The students of Class IV Fenthusiastically participated in aSpecial Assembly on the topic –Non-Violence - The Weapon OfThe Strong on 08.10.20. Theyportrayed the GandhianPrinciples through speeches, asong and a dance performance toinculcate the feeling of peace andharmony.

English WeekClass III activities includedCrossword, Scavenger Hunt andEnglish Quiz whereas theactivities for classes IV and Vwere Story Map, Limerickwriting and English Quiz. All thestudents thoroughly enjoyedand participated enthusiasticallyin all the activities.

The students of Class V Genthusiastically participated in aSpecial Assembly on the topic -Food Waste - not in Good Taste.Students talked about theimportance of food through asmall skit and posters. Theyhighlighted the important issueof wasting food.

Inter House Dance CompetitionAn inter house dance competition, held for theclass III students on 16.10.20, saw energeticperformances, excellent choreography andbeautiful presentations. The young dancerswere dressed in vibrant costumes andperformed happily.

Inter House Activities basedon the theme-Dussehra wereconducted on 16.10.20.Students participatedenthusiastically in the fancydress and talked about theirfavourite character fromRamayana and recitedchaupais.

Scienceporium on 16.10.20BVN Junior School organized an interschool science fest- SCIENCEPORIUM2020 for classes III to V, which culminated on 16th October 2020. Anoverwhelming response was received with 11 reputed schools and 44participants in three different categories.Class III- Eureka - Enactment of a scientific discovery.Class IV- Waste to wonder- Making of a scientific toy.Class V- Sciencetoons- Let’s end the use of plastics.The stupendous work by the participants was displayed and shared with theparticipating schools over the zoom platform.

A week long plethora ofactivities were organized from12th - 16th October, 2020 tohone the literary skills of thestudents. Enactments, AuthorsMeet , Making of Book Marks ,Book Covers, Puppets etc.made learning interesting andengaging for the students.
