Introduction

Organic fertilizer BIOST-1 is used in open and protected ground in agricultural production in private farming and community-supported farming for soil recultivation. It is used as organic fertilizer for basal fertilizing of agricultural (grains, pulses, gramineous, technical, forage, vegetable, small-fruit crops and fruit trees) and decorative crops, as well as for disturbed land recultivation. Organic fertilizer BIOST-1 suits best for the soils in Africa and Middle East due to its ability to retain liquid in the soil. Studies showed that BIOST-1 is a stronger agent affecting the soil properties than manure and mineral fertilizers and is the main source of phosphorous nutrition for plants. There is almost no need to apply mineral fertilizers if BIOST-1 is being applied in controlled doses.

Product description

BIOST-1 is an organic fertilizer based on the residues of sludge deposits which

are obtained by drying in silt detention ponds for at least two years. The organic fertilizer is produced based on ТУ 0135-001-78246328-2010.

The appearance of the organic fertilizer BIOST: an indiscrete dark grey loose mass. (see the photo).

Organic fertilizer BIOST-1 allows you to raise the soil fertility, agricultural crop yield and is environment-friendly. The use of organic fertilizers in the agricultural soils of African and Middle East countries allows you to raise the content of main nutrient elements of plants, especially N (nitrogen) and P (phosphorous), microelements Zn (zinc), Cu (cuprum), Mn (manganese) and other microelements, improves physical properties of the soil, its structure, moisture retention capacity as well as reduces its rate of evaporation. (see the table)

Weight percentage of organic substances can vary due to inhomogeneous composition of fertilizers, but doesn’t surpass the required limits

Advantages When BIOST-1 is applied the soil gets enriched by nutritious macro- and microelements

(nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium, manganese, molybdenum, zinc, cuprum, magnesium, cobalt) and organic substance. Thanks to application of the organic fertilizer BIOST-1 you save up on mineral fertilizers and considerably reduce the anthropogenic load on the soil. Agrochemicals similar to the fertilizer BIOST-1 are used in many countries of the world: USA, Canada, Western European countries, Ukraine and Belarus as well as in many regions of the Russian Federation. All the countries have elaborated recommendations on the use of such fertilizers taking into account the requirements of ecological safety.

The main macro elements which get into the soil after the fertilizer is applied are phosphorus, sulphur, calcium, magnesium and nitrogen. These very substances are needed for a full development of the root system and for growth of various cultures. One of the main tasks of organic fertilizers, as opposed to the nitrogen fertilizers, is the improvement of the soil structure. As a matter of fact the same thing happens as in the process of the black soil formation – separate units are formed in the soil, between which there is space which leads to a better air intake and water permeability. Microorganisms, improving the nutrient metabolism between the soil and plants, multiply as well. Organic fertilizers are a source of additional heat for the soil, and the soil gets useful substances in a balanced quantity, the risk for the plants to ‘get burnt’ sinks.

The advantages of using BIOST-1 compared to others organic fertilizers are the creation of a fertile layer of soil on sandy, sandy-loam, clay loam and loamy soils and recultivation of eluviated and erodible soils due to a balanced combination of components and special properties of this fertilizer.

Use

Maximum single dose for applying the agrochemical calculated with reference to dry substance for sandy and sandy-loam soils should not exceed 7 tons per hectare, for soils of medium and heavy texture – 10 tons per hectare. It is recommended to apply the agrochemical BIOST-1 to the soil not more than one time each 2 years for sandy and sandy-loam soils and not more than 1 time each 3 years for soils of medium and heavy texture.

According to the technology of the organic fertilizer application it should be used when agrochemical works with routine technical substances are performed in an agricultural production where organic fertilizers are expected to be used (РОУ-4, РОУ-6, РОУ-8).

According to the technological scheme of the agrochemical application routine, technical substances for agrochemical works should be used. During basal fertilizing the fertilizer should be evenly spread on the soil surface and ploughed up. A stronger effect on the biological activity and the nutritive regime of the soil is achieved when the fertilizer is plowed in to the soil with a plow on a depth of 10 – 20 cm. The content of mineral forms of nitrogen in the topsoil rises by 32%, of phosphorus – by 8%, of potassium – by 18%. Energy efficiency rises by 3.8 %. In order to create a fertile layer on sandy, sandy-loam, clay loam and loamy soils the application norm is between 40 and 120 tons per hectare during 1.5-2 years. Later, in order to keep the fertility of the layer, the application norm is 12-17 tons per hectare. When the organic fertilizer BIOST-1 is used on a constant basis the germination capacity gets improved by 10-19%, plus a systematic use of the fertilizer containing the mentioned elements makes it possible to secure a self-supporting balance of microelements in the crop rotation for 7-10 years.

Effectiveness

The use of organic fertilizer based on the sludge residues BIOST-1 results in crop yield increase. Average increase during 1 – 2 years is as follows: winter rye – up to 17%, spring wheat – 41% (grain quality – the content of gluten rises by 1 – 1.5%), maize – up to 20%, barley – up to 26%, buckwheat – up to 21%, sugar beet – up to 23%, grapes – up to 15%, maize herbage – 39%, straw – up to 13%.

Safety

The organic fertilizer BIOST-1 does not contain toxic components with a content exceeding the acceptable levels, there is no pathogenic flora. Organic fertilizer BIOST, if the recommended schedule is observed, does not negatively affect the quality and nutrition value of the products and does not lead to nitrate accretion.

If the agrochemical is applied to the soil in recommended doses and the acceptable for the soils norms are observed, it is unlikely that toxic admixes exceed the acceptable for the soil levels (see the table)
