BioskrubberTM Process for

H2S removal

BioskrubberTM is a biological caustic scrubber to remove H

2S from biogas, in which the spent caustic

solution is continuously regenerated in the bioreactor.

So

ADVANTAGES of BioskrubberTM PROCESS

o Very high H2S removal efficiency - over 99%.

o No risk of fire/explosion hazard as the process does not

mix air with the gas stream.

o Production of biological sulphur as a bi product. with 85-

90% purity

o No clogging – very high plant availability.

o Partial co absorption of CO2 present in raw biogas

o Very less requirement of process water as compared to

alternate technologies

o Environmentally friendly method of H2S removal with

very low effluent generation.

10

ADVANTAGES BioskrubberTM PROCESS

o Very high factor of system availability- Ideal for

continuous applications like power generation at base

load condition

o No expensive catalyst and chemical required.

o Operation at ambient temperature, pressure and

process liquid pH between 8 and 8.5

o No major impact of ambient temperature variations

o Robust gas cleaning system tailor made to suit Indian

Conditions

11

o 25 projects in India across various sectors viz.

Distillery, Starch, Sewage Treatment Plants and

Sour gas cleaning

o 4 new projects in the pipeline

o Projects using BioskrubberTM close to 55 MW

o Vast experience in H2S removal from Biogas in

different sectors in India spanning over 12 years

o Installations at 10 distilleries in India.

o Service - Dedicated technical support team based

in India to address client 's need with a very short

response time

Alternate Application of BiogasBioCNG-The New Frontier

Biogas Upgradation to BioCNG

oBiogas typically consists of Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen Sulphide and Moisture

oOut of these constituents only Methane is useful constituent from energy content point of view

oThe other constituents like Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen Sulphide, Moisture are removed through the BioskrubberTM system followed by CO2 removal system to enrich the gas from biogas to Compressed Natural Gas

Project BioCNG

oIETPL is implementing the first large scale BioCNG project in India at a distillery unit

oThe project will become functional in the next 10 months

oInnovative will provide the entire Biogas UpgradationPlant consisting of H2S cleaning and CO2 removal system

oUpgraded Biogas i.e. BioCNG will contain more than 95% Methane,CO2 less than 5% and H2S less than 5 ppm.

oThis BioCNG is proposed to be used as vehicular fuel

Challenges and Prospects

addffgg

oA big renewable story is unfolding in India

oGovernment of India and MNRE very supportive.

oHuge potential to setup projects for power and Bio-CNG

oTechnology and expertise platform available

oGood scope for synergizing new technologies

o THE CHALLENGE : 55 MW worth projects implemented in last 12 years.

Can we scale up to 150 MW in the next 3 years?
