The Genetic Cause
The University of California—San Diego research team has found genes on chromosome number 22 is linked bipolar disease. Their research was focused on mutations in a gene call G protein receptorkinase 3 (or GRK3 for short) which normally “regulates sensitivity to the brain neurotransmitters such as dopamine”. Another group of researchers found another gene related to bipolar disorder and depression. The gene is called “Sylnar” which was found on chromosome number 12 and acts unusal after mutations.
