This is a presentation, from the perspective of black people who fought in WW1. Most of these people were never recognised and there was no memorial in their villages and towns. WHY WAS IT A WORLD WAR?
The world is not just Europeans!
bhwg is a not for profit
organisation that
supports the community
in Telford and
Shropshire with a variety
of projects for people of
all ages from a
disadvantaged
We support local people, Elderly people,
and those with disabilities, whose first
language may not be English. We organise
day trips, and meetings of interest which
include discussions of current affairs in
English.
We support children’s orphanages in Sierra
Leone and Liberia with unwanted specs,
children’s shoes and clothes.

BLACK HISTORY
One hundred years
ago 1914 was the
beginning of World
War 1. This
presentation is to
bring awareness of
the black and Asian
soldiers, and their
courage, who fought
during the first world
war.
' World War One ‘ Articles and documentaries
generally concentrate on European, American
or even the Middle East.
Australian and New Zealand - forces are often
glossed over.
In World War One from 1914 to 1918 over 100
counties took part.
The world is not just Europeans! As the
historical self-important bias towards the
Western world documents.
Commonwealth Soldiers History
Very little is documented of the bravery and
courageousness of the black soldiers and the
battles they fought on the front line.
All the history is written around the white
European soldiers but there is only a small amount
mentioned of the part the black soldiers played.
In this presentation we want to do justice to the brave
commonwealth soldiers that took part in World War 1.
