INTRODUCTION OF CASE

After the country got freedom in 1947, the government diverted their attention to all round economic development. As a result of it, the Bombay government came up with a proposal to build a dam on Lokmata , Sadmata River in north Gujarat. After detailed analysis, studying the feasibility aspects and looking at the better prospects, the government then decided to relocate the people of affected area and take care of their livelihood. After that, the government came up with 2nd Proposal with a through technical study which would further increase the benefits of social and economic development. But the opposition from the people was a problems a very old and ancient time temple of Bhavnath was coming in between the construction of the dam which was strongly opposed by the villagers of that area.

OBJECTIVES

1) Construction of dam for betterment of irrigation facility .

2) Through improvement of irrigation facility make agricultural development possible and by that achieving economic development.

PROBLEMS

1) Submergence of temple, villages and lands.

2) To relocate the people and take care of their livelihood.

3) Opposition from the people

4) The location of bhavnath temple

5) Whether new location would able to attract same no of tourists.

CRAITAERA

1) Beneficial to people.

ALTERNATIVES AND EVALUATION OF IT.

1) The government need to convince the people fully by a mean of Negotiation and meetings and make sure that affected people get

Proper compensation2) The proposal of relocate the people and taking care of their livelihood

is very good solution for that they will have to assure people that they receives social , economic , as well as personal benefits.

SELECTING

From my point of view the government should go for the second option of relocation of temple an obvious one of shifting people and taking care of theirLivelihood as it would promise better economic , social and agricultural benefitsalso it would raise the irrigation potential by raising the capacity of the reservoir and by increasing three control levels and there by agricultural production.
