MODELLING FINANCIAL STATEMENT ANALYSIS AND PROJECTIONS USING MS EXCEL

Dr. Chaudhuri has four decades of experience in teaching, research and consultancy. He was a visiting scholar at Kellogg Graduate School of Management (North Western University, USA) under UNDP program, and Manchester Business School (UK) under ODA program. He was a full-time faculty in North Bengal University (Lecturer, Department of Commerce), Burdwan University (Reader, Department of Business Administration), Management Development Institute (Professor in Finance), and International Management Institute (Professor in Finance). From December 2007 to January 2017, he was Executive Director of IPE Global Ltd. (New Delhi) - a global consulting firm engaged in the development sectors. He joined the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad as a Distinguished Professor in Finance for a brief period of one-and-half-a-year, and thereafter re-joined IPE Global Ltd. on 11 July 2016 as Chief Economic Advisor and was posted in Kenya, Nairobi till December 2019. At present, he is the founder director of 4SK Development Research & Consultancy (New Delhi), a newly set up firm. He is also associated with several other consulting firms and academic institutions. His teaching and consultancy expertise includes: (i) corporate financial management; security analysis and portfolio management; and derivatives and risk management; (ii) infra project appraisal and financing, including financial modelling of public-private partnership (PPP) projects; (iii) public financial management; (iv) monitoring, evaluation, and learning of social sector programmes; and (v) developing capacity building strategy and conducting training programmes in public/private sectors.

Over the years, Dr. Chaudhuri has conducted a large number of management development programmes for the executives of corporate sector, banks, and financial institutions in India such as: NTPC, Power Grid, ONGC, IOC, GAIL, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., IFCI, HDFC, CMC (now merged with TCS), Airports Authority of India, National Handloom Development Corporation, Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. PNB Central Staff College, NIBSCOM, ICWA, ICAI, PHD Chamber of Commerce (Delhi), TERI, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Motors, Bharti Telecom, Hinduja Group, ITC hotels, J K Industries, Escorts, Alstom Power Projects, Bhiwani Textiles (unit of GRASIM), etc. He also designed and delivered a training programme on Integrated Bank Management for AGMs of the Department of Banking Supervision, RBI.

Dr. Chaudhuri has worked as a team leader or as a senior expert in more than 70 consultancy assignments funded by national governments and development partners (DFID, World Bank, EU, ADB, USAID, UNICEF, UNDP, UNWOMEN, Global Fund, etc.) in 23 countries (US, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, China, Mongolia, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Maldives, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe). He has experience of working in many sectors (education, health and nutrition, WASH, urban, energy, road, etc.).He has published many research papers and produced a large number of consulting reports. Some of his reports are available in the official websites of DFID, UNICEF, and the World Bank.

Programme objectivesIntroduction of the new Indian Accounting Standards (IND AS) with effect from the financial year 2016-17 has made understanding and analysis of the corporate financial statements somewhat challenging for many users due to significant changes in accounting standards, terminology, formats, and inclusion of more varied information in annual report compared to disclosure made earlier under Indian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). In view of this, Bharathidasan Institute of Management has designed an online skill development programme to enable the participants:

• Navigate through corporate financial statements prepared under new IND AS• Understand the framework of financial statements analysis and projections• Learn step-by-step financial modelling (analysis and projections) using MS Excel

The programme will be conducted through hands-on-learning mode and use actual company data for financial modelling. Participants will recieve certificate of participation on successful completion of the programme.

Who should attend?This programme is designed for management faculty, professionals and researchers working or intend to work in the field of corporate finance, equity research, investment banking, and private equity investment. The participants are expected to know the basics of MS Excel.

Fees and mode of paymentAs the programme is going to be ‘ONLINE’ and these are testing times due to corona, we want to keep the fee at the lowest possible to better serve the teaching fraternity. Hence, it is decided to charge only Rs. 2500/- per participant.
