E-cigarettes are still fairly new, and more research is neededover a longer period of time to know what the long-term healtheffects may be. It is impor tant to know that the long-term effects ofe-cigarettes are still unknown, and all tobacco products, includinge-cigarettes, can pose health risks to the user. For example, e-cigarettescan irritate the lungs and can have negative effects on the hear t.
While the possible long-term health effects of e-cigarettes aren’t yet clear, there have been recent repor ts of serious lung disease in some e-cigarette users and inthose using other vaping devices. Symptoms have included:
• Cough, trouble breathing, or chest pain• Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea• Fatigue, fever, or weight loss

Champion Sharon Wood at Strawbridge Elementary creates monthly challenges to engage staff with building healthy habits! Sharon creates the challenges in the Virgin Pulse app to keep staff mindful and intentional about the monthly challenge, and so they can also earn points. The challenges have consisted of taking 10,000 steps a day, packing your lunch, drinking f ive glasses of water a day and more! Staff even receive extra incentives such as free jean day passes, Post-It char t paper, and an extra 30 minutes of lunchtime (all principal-approved, of course)! To keep Strawbridge teachers and staff up to date about BEWell, Sharon provides each grade level chair talking points. Kudos to you Sharon!
