A Note from the PTO Executive Board… As Thanksgiving draws near, we are reminded to stop and reflect on all of the things for which we are grateful, not the least of which are YOU—our wonderfully supportive Bethel families, teachers and staff. We couldn’t do all that we do for our awesome school without YOU. Please know how much we appreciate your support! Spirit Events Thanks to everyone who supported October’s Spirit events! This month we have an amazing opportunity to win $1K from Moe’s Southwest Grill on Friday, November 4 (11a-8p) on “PAY WHAT YOU WANT DAY.” This event allows supporters from area schools to donate whatever amount they want for their meal, with 100% of proceeds donated going back to their designated school. The school with THE MOST DONATIONS will win an EXTRA $1K! As extra incentive, we are offering the opportunity for adult supporters to win our new Field Trip/Day t- shirt! Students will also be eligible to win prizes! All you’ll need to do is snap a pic of you/your family getting/enjoying Moe’s food and either post it to the Bethel PTO Facebook page or email it to us ([email protected]). Please plan to grab lunch and/or dinner from Moe’s & give generously! Other November Spirit events are Domino’s Spirit Day on Tuesday, November 8 and Zaxby’s Spirit Night on Tuesday, November 29 (5p-8p). Bethel Book Bonanza The 2 nd Annual “Bethel Book Bonanza” Family Literacy Night will take place on Tuesday, November 15 (5:30p-7p). This event allows students and their families to participate in a variety of literacy-based activities to promote reading and writing skills. The PTO will provide a pizza dinner, so be on the lookout for event information from your student’s teacher and be sure to RSVP! Our ELA teachers want to raise money to purchase new library books. As such, the PTO will run a Cake Walk at the Book Bonanza for which we will need baked goods donated. Please be on the lookout for that SignUpGenius if you would like to contribute to this activity. Also, remember to bring money to buy tickets to participate in the Cake Walk! The Book Fair will run November 14-18! Volunteers are needed to staff the Book Fair. If you would like to volunteer, be on the lookout for the SignUpGenius link, which will be distributed soon. Note that the Book Fair will be open the evening of November 15 as part of the Bethel Book Bonanza! Giving Back On Thursday, November 17, the Appreciation Committee will host the Giving Thanks Lunch for our teachers and staff. A SignUpGenius link will be sent out soon for needed items. The Mitten Tree project, which makes the holidays brighter for those who are less fortunate in partnership with the Clover Jaycees, will collect gifts for 20 students through November 28. Information about this program and how you can participate will be sent out soon via a SignUpGenius link. Send in can tabs (aka pop tops) with your student(s) ANYTIME in support of Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte! Student Council will collect tabs from classrooms throughout the school year and deposit them into a mobile Ronald McDonald House. Tabs can be from any type of aluminum can—beverages, pet food, canned soup/fruit/vegetables/meat/juice! Thanks for supporting this wonderful project that benefits many seriously ill children and their families! With sincere thanks and respect, we acknowledge the service of Allison Welch on the Bethel PTO Executive Board for the past 16 years as our Teacher Liaison! Throughout her service on the Board, Allison has been an enthusiastic participant, knowledgeable colleague and engaged volunteer, as well as a vital part of our history and continuity.

Due to a change in schedule, the role of Teacher Liaison has been assumed by Tammi Carter. We miss Allison’s presence and insight at our monthly meetings; however, we are thrilled that she remains as a co-chair of the Yearbook Committee! We appreciate Allison’s dedication to service and passion for Bethel! Thank you, Allison, for serving Bethel with such purpose and enthusiasm! We appreciate you and all that you have done, and will continue to do, for Bethel!

Spring is going to be blooming with beauty thanks to Carey Ojalehto and Ashlyn Condon for leading the Red Ribbon Week Plant A Promise project, which allowed all of our students to plant a flower bulb (tulip, daffodil and crocus) in the spirit of making healthy choices. (photo, top right) A world of thanks to Mrs. Condon’s father, Emmett Boyd, for tilling up the planting areas! Much appreciation to all of our volunteers who helped with bulb planting and photos: Melanie Chiaramonte, Jason Gould, Renee Kelley and Larissa Pitts!

Many thanks to Angela Caputo, Crystal Cegielski, Sandy Colquett, Jamie French, Renee Kelley, Krista Walter & Kellee Wilson for helping Melanie Chiaramonte (project leader) with the Read Your Way To The Big Game photo sessions! (photo, middle right) Shout outs to teachers Kelly Burton and Joni Levesque for the props! Thank you Jason Alizzi, Dawn Craig, Leksie Place, Amy Strong and Krista Walter for assisting Nana Cronan with October’s Birthday Books distribution. Special thanks to Amy Davis for leading the Scrambled Legs Running Club and to all of the coaches and volunteers (list follows) who made this program possible! A note from Amy Davis: Thank you to everyone for a great 2016 Scrambled Legs Program. I think we accomplished our goal, which is to make running FUN! We had a great season as each week the kids improved their lap times and number of laps, while building endurance and having fun! I would like to extend a special thanks to all the Coaches: 2nd: Chasity Keopraseuth and Leslie Fortner; 3rd: Sarah Work, Scott Nathe, Margo Glover, Ashlyn Condon; 4th: Ashley Dalton, Anna Espinoza, Nana Cronan; 5th: Carrie Sandstrom, Ann Tepfenhart, Kay Wessinger; Water Concessionaires and Lap Counters: Terri Benfield, Chasity Jeannite and Jaiden, Tracy Powell, Taylor Chinnes. We are grateful to the parents who came out to run with their kids, and for all the parent support in encouraging your kids each week. We had 9 kids who ran in the 38th Annual Great Pumpkin 5K Race in Rock Hill at Winthrop, Saturday, Oct. 29th. We are so proud of our students--they never gave up and finished strong! Please friend us on our Scrambled Legs Facebook page for pictures of this fun season. Scrambled Legs will resume next Fall. I will be passing the torch, as my daughter Alyse is in 5th Grade. Please continue to support this great program! Thank you for sharing your children with us each week. It is our hope we are building a foundation for these students to remain active all their lives! SPOOK-tacularly special thanks to Jill Sabella, Debi Jones and the Sabella boys (Jacob, Mikey & Timmy) for putting together the fa-BOO-lous Halloween treats (photo, bottom right) for our teachers & staff! Thank YOU for reading our newsletter & supporting our efforts!
