Workshops on Various TopicsThe conference will start off in small groups. We are offering you a choice between workshops on five different topics. Each topic will be offered twice. You decide which workshops you take part in.

1. F&B – Update? Why, and How?Oliver Schreiber, Managing Director of the Best Western Plus Atrium Hotel in Ulm, turned the F&B area of his hotel upside down over the last 12 months. Nothing is the same as it used to be – the structure, services, and – conse-quently – the sales figures as well. He will share his experi-ences with you, incl. useful tips and the obstacles you should watch out for. 2. Soft Renovation, Color DesignDAW Deutsche Amphibolin Werke is the leading manufac-turer of construction paints in Germany, and the third-larg-est supplier in Europe. He has also been a progros partner for many years. Providing consulting services on current trends in color design is one key building block in the ser-vices this company provides. Imme Bode and Axel Schmidt-Adlung from DAW’s design and property consult-ing services help you understand the emotional needs of hotel guests, current design trends in the hotel industry, and examples of how to upgrade areas of your hotel through simple steps. Anyone working through renovation or design projects in his own hotel will find some interest-ing suggestions here.3. Smith Travel Research (STR) – your benefits

under the new partnershipOur new partnership with STR began at the start of 2017. Global data sharing offers important analytical capabilities to every hotel. Stefanie Eissner, Regional Account Manager, and Christian Streider, Market Manager at STR, illustrate the benefits to you.4. BWR Enrollments – Best PracticesHow can I reach the required number of new members for Best Western Rewards? Beatrice Bachelin, Director Mar-keting Support, Analysis & Sales will share secrets for suc-cess and ideas from other hotels with you.5. Two-Way – Best Practices for CEO’s & GM’sStefan Schumacher, Teamleader Reservation Systems/Two-Way will give you some best practice tips for handling two-way interfaces appropriately. How can you assess whether problems exist, where they are, and how to cor-rect them?

The focus will be on E-Commerce, Best Western Rewards enrollments versus OTAs (effects on customer data streams), GoGetRewarded, Tourist Packages, Newsletter & CRM, Social CRM, distribu-tion partners, print concepts, etc.

Offered in Parallel:

4:15 – 6:00 PM

„Preview-Session“ for the New Intranet (Participation only with advance notification)

Parallel to the conference program, the first “preview ses-sion” for the new intranet will take place this afternoon. We are looking for 10-20 volunteer hoteliers who would like to look at and discuss the developments up to this point. Dirk Osse, Director Reservation & Web Technology will explain what we’ve learned and the decisions made up this point. If you’d like to take part, please register for this session directly via e-mail at [email protected].

End of Conference Day One

Starting at 7:00 PM

„Welcome Friends“When you invite friends to visit your home, you often meet in your living room or garden. We’ll be following the same tradition: the hotel’s garden and “living room” are waiting for you. To all of you, we say “Welcome friends!”

Note: New Start Time 2:00 PMThis year’s annual conference will begin on the afternoon of the first day. The reason for this is a compact program of speak-ers and workshops, which includes not only a few extra topics but also updates from the Marketing departments of your service center. This allows us to target conference content to different audiences better than in a plenary assembly. Therefore, we request that you arrive a bit earlier to take advantage of this new conference offer.

The entire event will take place in German language, with simultaneous translation. The charts used in the individual presentations will be prepared in English language.

The Upstalsboom WayWhen Bodo Janssen entered his family’s company, the Upstalsboom Hotel Group, he thought he was a great manager. The business was running well, and the numbers were good. But the results of an employee survey told a shockingly diff erent story. This situation served as the founda-tion for the Upstalsboom Way, which completely redefi ned the company’s relationship with its employees. “Leadership isn’t a privilege. Leadership is ser-vice,” or “Value creation through valuing employees” are two core cultural concepts that describe this new way.Bodo Janssen speaks about meaning-focused leadership that values employee contributions. The goal is to make manag-ers more than just drivers or authority fi gures. Instead, they should recognize and promote the potential of each employee. The approach also integrates new fi ndings from neural research and positive psychology. The result? Employee satisfaction increased by 80% within 3 years, and guest satisfaction increased to 98%. At the same time, the Group’s awareness increased tenfold and its reve-nues doubled!

Employee ChallengesOne thing’s for sure: finding and keeping good employ-ees is one of the biggest challenges in our industry today, and it’s going to stay that way for the foreseeable future. That’s why this morning will be dedicated to the most burning questions surrounding this complex topic. We will discuss the following specific areas:

1. Employer ViewpointKlaus Michael Schindlmeier, Managing director of the Best Western Plus Palatin Kongresshotel in Wiesloch, is cur-rently one of the most popular and most decorated hotel-iers around. This is partially because he has re-prioritized and re-positioned the topic of “employees” in his business in smart, creative, and truly extraordinary ways. What are the obstacles, and what are some potentially successful approaches?

2. HR Professional ViewpointMichael Stuhldreher, independent Director in the Mainz office of “Lost & Found” is a highly experienced and suc-cessful HR consultant for the hotel and restaurant indus-tries. He works for numerous companies and understands the challenges from a “neutral” standpoint. Are there other industries or companies that solve this problem especially well? Is the hotel industry set up an sufficiently

prepared to face these challenges? How are job-seekers’ requirements changing? What recommendations for action apply especially to the hotel sector?

3. Your Own Success StoriesMany of you are meeting these challenges with your own unique recipes for success. We’d like to collect and exchange these ideas, and invite you to join the group collaboration.

4. Talk Talk TalkThis session is a chance to deepen and question what you’ve heard in other presentations. We have invited pre-senters from the employer viewpoint and neutral parties to take part. It will be exciting to see how young employ-ees react to their recipes for success. Marie Domogalla and Aline Rivera Carrion are two young employees at the Best Western Premier Parkhotel Kronsberg in Hanover, and will certainly be a good addition to enrich this panel discussion.

11:45 AM

Last But Not LeastThe latest news, information, and best wishes to close out your conference.
