Being in business forthe past 10 years, the LosGallos taqueria is still a

local favorite, as the Lin-coln News Messengerreaders voted it BestAuthentic Mexican Food.

For owner Saul Aceves,receiving the award isrecognition of his hard work in preparing andcooking his food and cus-tomer relationships.

For Aceves, the part he

still enjoys most about hisjob after 10 years is cook-ing.

His favorite food, bothto prepare and to eat, isthe taco.

Despite being a fixtureon F Street next to Beer-mann Plaza, Aceves saidhe hopes to be able to

Annies were once againvoted best by readers ofthe Lincoln News Mes-senger.

Its of course a big hon-or for us, said Jai Baker,co-owner of the restau-rant. The award is reallyspecial.

Baker said she believesit is because of her terrif-ic staff that diners con-tinue to come back to theestablishment.

They are so friendlyand outgoing and consci-entious, Baker said.They really care. Thefood is up to par, and if itsnot, they dont let it goout.

Baker recently added

three or four new bene-dict dishes to the winninglineup.

The potato skin bene-dict and the krunchyFrench toast are two ofthe new items.

Some current favorites,Baker said, are the breadpudding French toast andthe Bloody Marys.

Jeremy Lyche, principal of Twelve Bridges Elementary School, said the BestPrincipal award is due to a dedicated group of staff, teachers, students andparents.

Jeremy Lyche said beingvoted Best Principal byreaders of the LincolnNews Messenger is quitean honor.

Lyche is the principal atTwelve Bridges Elemen-tary School and he saidthe award is very encour-aging.

For the second year in arow, FieldHaven FelineRescue was voted BestNonprofit Group/Orga-

nization by Lincoln NewsMessenger readers.

I was very excited andvery proud of our organi-zation, especially giventhat its the second year ina row, said Joy Smith.

The organizations vol-unteers work very hardand they deserve theaward, Smith added.

FieldHaven, accordingto Smith, is very support-ive of the community as awhole and she said thathelped lead to the organ-ization winning theaward.

Lt. Paul Shelgren was voted Best Police Officer but credits the teamworkacross the department with deserving the award.

Lt. Paul Shelgren of theLincoln Police Depart-ment said he wouldrather quietly do his jobin the background but he
