Share A Dream Come True!

September 2012

Gratitude to Jolene of Advocate Hope for the photos.

It is with deep sadness that we must inform our readers that Sunshine Foundation has lost a

very dear friend. Christopher Knorr, who was President of the All Volunteer Southern

Ocean Chapter, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Chris was a warm, generous,

caring man, who for many years dedicated much of his time towards helping the children

served by Sunshine Foundation. Chris, who loved fishing, played an intricate part in the

Southern Ocean Chapter’s Annual Fishing Tournament, the largest one line fishing tourna-

ment in NJ. Hundreds of deserving children have received their dream come true through this

wonderful event and the hard working individuals, like Chris, who worked so unselfishly to

make it a success.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to Chris’s wife Karen and his devoted family and friends.

He will be dearly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May each of you find peace in

the happy memories you will forever hold in your hearts. Goodbye dear friend, you are gone but your memory will

live on in each of the children’s lives that were changed because you were here and gave so much.

Sunshine Foundation Says Goodbye to A Very Dear Friend

Members of the All Volunteer Southern Ocean Chapter presented a

$20,700.00 check to Sunshine Foundation, which was raised through the

15th Annual Fishing Tournament. Thank you to the chapter members

who along with Chris before his death, worked hard to ensure the

Annual Fishing Tournament was a success!

Employee Volunteer Days Make Dreams Come True

Did you know your workplace can sponsor a volunteer work day at the Headquarter Office in Feasterville, PA or at

Sunshine Foundation’s Dream Village in Davenport, FL? That is exactly what RTIS and Global Tower Partners

recently did. RTIS sent teams of employees to help out at the PA office and Global Tower Partners spent a day painting

and making repairs at the Dream Village. This is a wonderful and easy way for companies to help make dreams come

true. If your workplace would like to volunteer in the Feasterville, PA office please email

[email protected] To volunteer at the Dream Village email [email protected]

Karen’s Dream Answered

Karen just went on a dream trip of a lifetime to San Antonio where she visited Morgan’s

Wonderland and Sea World with her family. Karen is 6 years old and is diagnosed with

cerebral palsy. Honeywell employees Crystal and Char hosted an ice cream social and

luncheon to raise funds for Karen’s dream. Morgan’s Wonderland and Sea World

San Antonio generously donated tickets to the family. Thank

you to everyone who played a part in answering Karen’s dream.

On August 7, 2012, Sunshine Foundation lost a very special woman and friend.

Marianne J. Cotshott passed away peacefully at her home in Ocean City, NJ. Most Ocean City

residents probably knew Marianne and her husband John and their love for Sunshine Foundation.

For much of the Sunshine Foundation’s thirty six years, Marianne was President of the All Volun-

teer Cape Atlantic Chapter. Together with her husband and the other chapter members, Marianne

left no stone unturned in their quest to make our special children’s lives a better place to be through

annual fundraisers such as the chapter’s craft show, block party and golf tournament. Thanks to

Marianne, Ocean City is certainly a Sunshine Foundation town, even the Annual “Miss Night In

Venice” contest reaches out to support the Sunshine Foundation as one of its charities.

A woman with a bigger heart you could not meet. In addition to helping fulfill dreams on a daily basis, each Christmas,

Marianne and her friends collected toys for needy families in their community, brightening Christmas Day for children

whose parents were unable to afford to purchase their children’s gifts.

Marianne was all about helping others; we are so proud and happy to have had the opportunity to have known her.

She will be dearly missed and our deepest sympathy goes out to her family and friends at this sad time. We will hold

memories of this compassionate woman in our hearts forever. Her legacy of love will live on through the All Volunteer

Cape Atlantic Chapter as it continues to help the children Marianne so dearly loved.

Remembering A Special Friend to Sunshine Foundation’s Dreamers

Sunshine Foundation Surprises Francine with Happy News Francine is 7 years old and lives in San Diego. She is diagnosed with severe autism and is hearing impaired.

Francine got some exciting news recently when Courtney Arciaga, a past Progeria Reunion dream recipient, and her

friend Ashley brought balloons and presents to Francine’s house. They surprised Francine with the exciting news that

she will be traveling to Central Florida to visit the theme parks and stay at Sunshine Foundation’s Dream Village.

Francine is a part of a military family and she found out about her dream trip just as her

dad returned from his

second deployment over-

seas.

Surprise! Francine is presented

with balloons at her house.

Down syndrome. Kylee dreams of

visiting the Central

Florida theme parks!

Hunter is 6 years

old and has multiple

congenital anoma-

lies. Hunter wants to

be a teacher and bus

driver when he

grows up!

Keanu is 9 years

old and has severe

autism. Keanu

loves to swim and

watch Pixar movies!

Beverly Whitedeere is a loyal Sunshine Foundation Dream Maker®.

She first heard about Sunshine Foundation listening to Irv Homer’s talk

show. Beverly was touched by Irv’s words and shortly after attended a

flea market, where volunteers were selling cakes and collecting donations

to make dreams come true. She found she liked these people and was

touched by their desire to help these special children. A little voice in her

head told her that this was the charity she was meant to help and this gen-

erous lady has been donating to the Sunshine Foundation every month

since that memorable day. Beverly, who so humbly gives to the

Sunshine Foundation, has a favorite quote, “Giving is Truly Receiving.”

We know that we speak for the children when we say that Beverly would

certainly be a very happy lady if she receives back even a fraction of the joy that she has spent

all these years bringing into the lives of Sunshine Foundation’s deserving children.

Leonardo’s Birthday Dream Come True

Leonardo celebrated his 7th birthday with friend and fellow Texas Children’s Hospital patient Ebonie. Ebonie was

at the hospital to give Leonardo a Dream Come True package that contained all the details of his upcoming trip to

Sunshine Foundation’s Dream Village and the Central Florida attractions! Ebonie and Leonardo are both diagnosed

with cerebral palsy. Ebonie was given a trip to Central Florida through the

Foundation last year. Her family was on hand to share in the excitement and

impart all the fun things Leonardo has to look forward to on his trip.
