We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Wiradjuri and Ngunnawal nations, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and future

Yaama,

I had the great pleasure of attending our P&C meeting

on Tuesday evening. This wonderful group of

volunteer parents continues to give amazing support

to our school. This month they moved to donate

$1000 towards our Choir going to schools spectacular

and a small $50 grant to each child who is selected in a

South Coast Regional sports team to compete at a

state carnival. P&C has also recently given the school

$2500 for home readers and also funded the large

Tonka style toys for our sandpits. The very successful

Bingo night and Wee Jasper Bonfire stall are great

examples of how our P&C are a part of our wider Yass

community as they support Berinba PS. A Huge THANK

YOU.

Last weeks’ Education Week concert was a great

event. Over 100 parents attended the performances,

many slipping out of work to watch their children on

stage. The very strong message to come out of the

performances was simply how confident our children

have become when performing in public. Thanks to

staff and children for their efforts and a special thank

you to Mrs Sainsbury for her organisation. On Friday

evening our Dancing Cats and Actors as well as our

choir performed at the Binit Binit Education week

concert along with students from 7 other schools. The

massed choir finale stole the show with many a tear

shed by parents and staff. Once again our beautiful

students performed proudly on stage and in the

waiting green rooms. I was extremely proud to watch

the way our children present themselves, perform and

behave when in public.

Thanks to the many parents who attended and to Miss

O’Connor, Mrs Hart, Ms McAleer, Mrs Armour and

Mrs Dawes who worked with our students to make

them ready to perform.

A bus load of students headed off on Wednesday

morning to participate in the Trent Barrett Shield

Rugby League tournament at Gundagai. Once again

our students really put their best feet forward in

representing our school. This follows on from our

students amazing performances at the District

Athletics carnival. Not only did we win the carnival but

our behaviour and attitude on the day far exceeded

our expectations. Once again I was extremely

impressed with our sense of school identity and

“team” mentality.

I will be on leave for the next fortnight, Mr Bradley will

be relieving as Principal for this period. As usual if you

want to discuss any matter about your child or the

directions of the school we are always open to meet

with you or respond to an email.

Next week is officially Book Week in NSW schools. Our

students will be exploring the recommended book lists

in library lessons all week as well as looking at Authors

during class time. Reading is such an important part of

learning and growing and we celebrate books every

minute of every day at school. Please take time this

week to support your child in their reading, discuss the

book they are reading and model reading at home by

picking up that novel and reading for a period when

usually the TV takes control. Have a great fortnight

Bin-it-bin-it

Last Friday night Berinba acting cats, dancing cats and choir, along with other

schools in the region went up to Vass High to perform for the Bin-it Bin-it

learning community.

Dancing cats preformed to Children and did a spectacular performance!

There were two parts to the dance, the first part was 3\6 and the year 1 and

2 joined in.

Choir sang to True Blue Wonders. They were amazing! School Spectacular

sang the introduction then the rest of the choir sang along.

The last act from Berinba was acting cats with their awesome play of

MasterChef. There was Matina Crevatt-Lurver [Matt Preston] played by

Goldie McCarthy. Georgina Colander-us [George Calombaris] played by Lara

Hardey. The last judge was Garriah Me me me me Han [Gary Mehigan]

played by Natasha Morrison. Our special guest judge was Maggie Wine

[Maggie Beer] played by Elsie McNamara. Then we had our contestants.

Niamh Lazar, Kearna Blundell, Poppy Jones and Sally Oostermeyer.

The last act for the night was the Finale of 'This is me' from the Greatest

Showman. All of the Schools including Yass High sang it beautifully. It was a

long night but all our hard work payed of in the end.

Mr GB received a kind hearted letter from three caring siblings at

Berinba, it has prompted us to get involved and do our bit. Over

the next month we would like to raise a significant amount of

money for the Rural Aid Initiative to help out our drought

stricken farmers. We hope all Berinba families can spare a few

gold coins throughout the month of August.

Gold coin donations can be handed in to the Berinba front office.

Dear Mr GB

Our family has a fundraising idea. We would like Berinba’s help to raise

money for farmers affected by the drought. Buy a bale is asking for schools

to have a gold coin donation day to purchase bales of hay to assist farmers

in NSW and QLD. In recent weeks we have spent hours in the car driving to

towns like Cootamundra and Junee and passed many farms and have been

stopped to give way to cows feeding on the side of the roads. Mum has

shown us pictures of farms in other areas of NSW where the drought is a

lot worse. Our Grandma and Grandpa volunteer for Farm Army and Blaze

Aid, they have helped farmers in NSW, QLD and VIC. In September they are

heading to Tamworth to help a farmer mend fences and other work. We

would like to be able to help too.

Thanks for taking the time to read this
