Containerized Longleaf Pine and Shortleaf Pine

ManylandownersacrossVirginiaarestartingtolookfor ways to accelerate early growth in their pine plantationsandcontainerizedseedlingsmaybeagreatwaytodothat.Containerseedlingsgrowatarapidpacewhenplantedatthecorrecttime.ThebesttimetoplantbarerootseedlingsinVirginiaisFebruarytoMarch because of cold weather. However, container seedlings are best planted in the fall and the overall plantingwindow ismuchmore extended. Pristineroots,largerseedlingsize,intactrootballandearlierplantingallcontributetorapidgrowth.
