Sleuk Rith Institute, Phnom Penh, CambodiaA series of interwoven buildings designed by Zaha Hadid for genocide studies in Southeast Asia.

Vattanac Capital, Phnom Penh, CambodiaShaped like the mythical Chinese dragon symbolising health and prosperity, the 36-storey office tower houses Vattanac Bank’s headquarters and has become a new landmark for the city.

Sengkang LNG Terminal, IndonesiaThe LNG liquefaction and export facility in Sulawesi has a capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum built from 0.5 million tonnes per annum modular units.

Penang Second Bridge, MalaysiaThe 24km long sea crossing, the longest in Southeast Asia, is the second link between Penang Island and the Malaysian Peninsular.

Icone Tower, Manila, PhilippinesOur architectural and engineering designs are shaping the iconic 40-storey skyscraper at the heart of Manila. Its public plaza will include a canopy of trees to replicate the ambiance of the Filipino tropical forest.

Downtown Line, SingaporeThe 42km Downtown line links the north-western and eastern housing estates to the downtown areas. Arup developed the alignment design for the entire 21km stretch.

Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort, SingaporeThe exciting development in the heart of Singapore integrates the prestigious waterfront promenade with iconic retail, entertainment and hotel facilities, public spaces and breathtaking city view.

MahaNakhon, Bangkok, ThailandThe 314m tall tower features distinctive cantilevered glass ‘skyboxes’ and terraces that form the pixelated design and provide unparalleled views of the city.

MRT Blue Line extension, Bangkok, ThailandThe extension connects the existing Blue Line, Hua Lamphong Station in the South and Bang Sue Station in the North, to complete Bangkok’s orbital rail network.

Development strategy for Ninh Thuan province, VietnamWe developed a masterplan proposal encompassing energy and ecological concerns to generate a sustainable, competitive economy.

Landmark 81, Ho Chi Minh City, VietnamStanding at 461m tall, the city’s tallest building resembles a bundle of bamboo canes to reference the area’s agricultural past and a nation’s much revered home-grown resource.

Structural safety assessments of textile factory buildings in BangladeshFollowing the disaster in Rana Plaza in 2013, where a garment factory collapsed, we were asked to develop a methodology for assessing the structural safety of the factories in Bangladesh.

Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, IndiaWe provided concept and design development services for the convention centre with a 3-storey auditorium inside, sky garden and pool.

GVK Sky Tower, Mumbai, IndiaThe award-winning structure combines aesthetic designs with stringent air traffic control requirements.

Kempegowda International Airport T1 Extension, Bangalore, IndiaThe project unifies existing and new facilities under one dramatic swooping and curving roof.

Aspire Tower, Dohar, QatarBuilt as part of the 2006 Asian Games, the tower is shaped like a torch and held the symbolic flame for the duration of the Games.

Heart of Doha substation, Doha, QatarArup’s design for Qatar’s first fully-underground substation reduced its footprint significantly compared to a traditional above-ground station of similar size.

100,000 vehicles per day will be using the Tunnel comfortably without being affected from the weather conditions outside. We will from now on be ignoring all those news articles such as ‘the ferries stop operation due to the storm’, ‘the traffic stops on the bridge due to fog’, etc. Thanks to the Eurasia Tunnel, uninterrupted land transport between the two sides of Istanbul has become possible independently from the climate conditions outside.

Seychelles strategic land use and development plan, Mahe, Seychelles The plan articulates a clear vision and strategy for the Seychelles up to 2040.

Constitutional Court, Johannesburg, South AfricaThe symbolic building features pioneering sustainable heating and cooling systems.

Gautrain Rapid Rail Link, South AfricaArup certified South Africa’s first rapid-rail link connecting Pretoria and Johannesburg to the OR Tambo International Airport.

Multi-products pipeline, Johannesburg to Durban, South AfricaSouth Africa’s largest pipeline project, valued at US$2bn.

V&A Grain Silo Complex, Cape Town, South AfricaArup repurposed the historic grain silo building for a new contemporary African art gallery with hotel, office and dining facilities.

Queensferry Crossing, EdinburghThe Queensferry Crossing is Scotland’s largest infrastructure project for a generation and the longest three-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world.

The Christie Proton Beam Therapy Centre, Manchester We developed a series of sustainability measures for the largest treatment method of its kind in the world and helped the centre to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ environmental rating.

Giants Causeway Visitors Centre, Northern IrelandA new visitor centre for Northern Ireland’s most popular tourist attraction, the single storey building cuts into the existing landscape, making use of the large difference in level across the site.

Lake Mead Intake Tunnel No 3, Nevada, USArup led the engineering design of a critical new intake tunnel at Lake Mead, a main source of water for millions in the southwest US. The new tunnel ensures water quality and supply amid declining lake levels caused by drought.

Fulton Center, New York, USFeaturing the iconic slanted, hyperboloid domed atrium of glass and steel, the LEED® certified transit hub links six subway stations and 10 subway lines in lower Manhattan.

Second Avenue Subway, New York, USThe new line will reduce overcrowding and delays on Manhattan’s Lexington Avenue line and make mass transit more accessible to people living on Manhattan’s far East Side.

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, USA reimagined gallery experience, behind a dramatic facade that provides a new gateway to the city.

Kurilpa Bridge, Brisbane, AustraliaSculptural in appearance, the pedestrian and cyclist bridge is a multi-mast, cable-stay structure based on principles of tensegrity, a first in city bridge construction.

Webb Dock, Melbourne, AustraliaAs strategic advisors, we provided extensive maritime engineering services for the redevelopment of the port, enabling the port to fulfill its role at the centre of the economy.

Elizabeth Quay Pedestrian and Cyclist Bridge, Perth, AustraliaUsing parametric modelling, Arup optimised the geometry of the pedestrian pathway to overcome design constraints resulting in simple and pure structural forms, complemented by a rationalised modular architecture.

Dr Chau Chak Wing Building, Sydney, AustraliaArup was instrumental in achieving this highly complex building by driving design elements including the high-performance glazing system, the specification of more sustainable construction material using energy reducing processes and timber sourced from responsible sources.

Yankaninna remote microgrid, South Australia Our advice is enabling a charitable foundation to lower the carbon intensity and operating costs of the off-grid microgrid in South Australia.

Auckland transport planning services, Auckland, New ZealandThrough its continual involvement in shaping the transport environment in central Auckland over the past ten years, Arup has been assisting Auckland City Council to develop a strategy and plans to improve accessibility of the CBD.

Sensing City, Christchurch, New ZealandA world first, Sensing City will position Christchurch at the forefront of the smart technology revolution. We created a digital masterplan to advise how to establish this ‘Sensing City’ which would pioneer the use of information to manage urban living.

Barangaroo is one of the largest regeneration sites in Australia, and we appreciate the invaluable multidisciplinary work that Arup have provided to deliver this successful urban redevelopment.
