Beef Mechadoby McCormick

Mechado is one of the f avorite dishes among Filipino home as part of weekly menu or on occasion andgatherings. Aside f rom beef , other meat like pork and chicken can be substituted f or it. This dish issomewhat similar to other Filipino dishes such as the Kaldereta, Estof ado, and as well as the Af ritadabecause of the base ingredient used which is tomato sauce.

1 kg beef sirloin, cut into cubes

2 pcs lemongrass, white part only, chopped

1 onion, chopped

2 tbsp vegetable oil

1 tbsp chopped f resh ginger

1 tbsp McCormick Ground Cumin

½ tsp Club House Ground Cinnamon

¼ tsp each McCormick Curry Seasoning and

¼ tsp McCormick Club House Chili Powder

1½ cups Kitchen Basics Original Beef Cooking Stock

1 cup tomato sauce

1 cup each cubed carrot and cubed potato

½ cup sugar

¼ cup soy sauce

1. In a large sauce pan on medium high heat, add oil. Sauté ginger,onion and lemongrass f or 1 minute.

2. Add the beef , cinnamon, curry powder, chili powder and cuminpowder. Cook until beef is browned on all sides.

3. Add tomato sauce, beef stock, soy sauce, carrots and potatoes. Add sugar and cover.

4. Simmer over low heat until meat becomes tender, internal temperature reaching at least 160°F (71°C), andthe sauce thickens.
