Students enjoyed an assembly to celebrate our fundraising efforts through the PTO Fun Run. Being taped to the wall during the assembly was quite an experience! Please remember to sign up for parent/teacher conferences if you have not done so already. You may go right to Beagle’s web page to access the link. Our hallways are very congested in the afternoons for dismissal. We are asking that parents who come into the building at the end of the day to go into the cafeteria to wait. We need the stairwell near the front door cleared to allow classes to dismiss using that main stairwell, as well as cleared hallways to allow students to be able to safely get to their destination at the end of the day. There are signs posted on the doors as a reminder. Thank you for your cooperation in helping make our dismissal procedure safer for our students. Our drop-off routine can go very well in the morning if everyone follows common courtesy and safety guidelines. Please follow these steps: 1. Pull forward as far as possible. 2. Allow your child(ren) out of the car at the sidewalk. 3. Stay in line (no passing!). 4. Follow the adults’ directions. They are there to keep our students safe. Regardless of whether you celebrate Halloween or not, please be safe around town this evening. When driving, watch out for the ghouls and goblins that will be walking around town. As always, if you have any question or would like to discuss any concerns, please contact me. BEAGLE SPIRIT WEAR – 2014 There is plenty of time to over Spirit Wear. Items are now on display outside the school office. Portions of all sales will be donated to the Beagle PTO. Order deadline is Monday, November 17 for delivery the week of December 15. Ordering will be done online at hhtp://sportsstop.net/beagle/. Don't forget to VOTE Tuesday, November 4, 2014. Polls are open 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Non-Homestead Millage Renewal This is a renewal of a millage approved by the voters in 1995 for 20 years. It has been levied every year since then. The district has voter approval to levy 18 mills on Non-Homestead property in 2014 but it expires this year. This is not a new tax and does not affect a property owner's primary residence. The Non-Homestead Millage is required by Proposal A, the state's school funding structure, in order for Grand Ledge Public Schools to receive its minimum per pupil foundation allowance from the state. In order to maintain the state minimum funding, the voters have to approve this periodically. The revenue generated from the 18 Non-Homestead mills equals almost $7 million, or 16% of the district's operating budget each year. If this millage renewal does not pass, the state will NOT replace the lost funding and Grand Ledge Public Schools will be forced to substantially reduce, and/or eliminate, programs and services to offset the funding loss. Please Vote on November 4th. For complete details on the proposal, visit our Elections page under the Board of Education on our website: www.glcomets.net. BOX TOP WINNERS

Congratulations to Mrs. Beach's class for winning the first Box Tops collection contest of the year, collecting 2,018 Box Tops! They will be treated to cider and donuts for their collection efforts. Also, congratulations to Kaden Nowak (Mrs. Scholten's 6th grade class), Caiden Morrison (Ms. Sliger's 1st grade class), and Jayden Martinez (Mr. Schuchaskie's 3rd grade class) who each earned a large pumpkin for their individual collection efforts; each of them collecting over 500 Box Tops! We collected 16,198 school-wide for this contest. That is over $1,600 for our school! GREAT JOB and keep collecting those Box Tops! Another collection contest will begin in mid-November!

Purchase your holiday gifts ahead of the rush, even after the Fair has closed at school, through December 2nd! Pick up those last few items that were sold out at the Fair. Purchases will be shipped to the school for you to pick up.

We hope you will consider donating a book to your child’s classroom. Our teachers will have a display in the Media Center with books they have chosen that they would love to add to their library of books in their classroom.

Plan to come and enjoy the Book Fair and get a great start on holiday shopping while helping our library grow with the profits we receive from the Fair. Thank you for your support for our school!
