DECs

All buildings with public access

over 500Sq M require both a

DEC and an Advisory Report

*This office will require one in about

18 months time once all commissioning

of systems are fully complete and the

NOT the same as an EPC

Energy Legislation

Carbon Reduction Commitment

Started as a Carbon Trading Scheme, but changed into a

Carbon “Tax” by the current government.

The Council has to pay a an amount set by the UK

Government per tonne of CO2 it produces.

Most recently approximately £16/Tonne

The latest amount payable was about £160,000.

Savings To Public Purse

Cost Savings to Council/Public

By reducing our own energy consumption, we reduce

our costs which in turn can free up finances to support

front line services and potentially reduce the burden on

the Council Tax payer.
