– Giroux Glass, Inc. was mentioned in several spots in the July 27-August 3

issue of ENR (Engineering News Record) Magazine. The issue contained a special section about the recent renovations at Los Angeles International Airport, (“LAX”), the site of ongoing work for Giroux Glass, Inc. since the airport first operated as an international airport in 1949. Tom Molinaro, commercial project manager and estimator for Giroux Glass, is quoted several times in the cover article; Giroux Glass has a full page colorful ad, highlighting recent work on Terminal 2 on page L2, and an article about the company’s long history of performing glazing at LAX can be found on page L5. The history of Giroux Glass projects at LAX closely mirrors its own corporate evolution. Back in the 1940’s, when original founder, Louis Giroux, started his business with 8 employees, he managed the glass service account for LAX. At that time, service work was all that was offered by the new glass company. Projects included replacing broken glass, hand-rails, misaligned doors, and escalators, for not just the airport, but for all commercial buildings in downtown Los Angeles.

Fast forward to modern times – when not even Louis Giroux would have imagined the types of projects Giroux Glass now performs both at LAX and for other customers. As the scope of LAX projects performed by Giroux Glass evolved, so has the work performed by the company.

When Giroux sold his business in 1991 to Anne-Merelie Murrell, (current Chairman of the Board), the company expanded beyond service and repair projects to offer glass design and installation services for tenant improvements, high-end residential and retail design, and commercial contract work, as well as CAD design. It also has grown to 175 employees, and to include offices based in Las Vegas, NV, and Fresno, CA, and a fabrication facility in San Bernardino, CA, while consistently ranking among ENR Magazine’s Top 20 Firms in Glazing and Curtain Wall and Glass Magazine’s Top 50, and The Top 100 Best Companies in Los Angeles. Giroux Glass, a WBE- and ESOP company, has worked on virtually every terminal in the airport, completing projects that range from renovations to new construction; on landmark features that include the Admirals Club; a pedestrian bridge between Terminals 6 and 7; glass replacement on the original radar control tower, and ongoing service to the iconic and colorful glass columns.

Currently, Giroux Glass is working on its biggest undertaking ever at LAX, a $10 million renovation and new construction project at Terminal 1, to be completed in three years. Most recently, Giroux Glass completed renovations to Terminal 2, which included multiple retail storefronts, a grand staircase and a multi-colored, maharam-patterned glass wall.
