Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Supervision of students at BCS is a professional

responsibility of all teachers that is taken very seriously.

Adequate supervision cons tutes a teacher having a line of

sight with students for a given period of me. Teacher

responsibility commences at 8.30am each morning when

students start to arrive through the school gates. Students

are expected to depart the school promptly by 3.30pm

unless they are par cipa ng in extra curricula ac vi es

such as Homework Centre and have prearranged consent.

Students are supervised directly during both class sessions

and playground sessions. Students are usually dispersed to

different areas during playground sessions. Primary and

secondary have specific areas for ea ng their recess and

lunch food.

During the second half of lunch, students K‐6 have the

choice of playing on the fixed equipment, the lawn area or

going indoors for library ac vi es. Secondary students

walk across Queen Street to the hard courts and playing

fields and engage in a range of physical ac vi es.

Students are rou nely taught the school’s behaviour

expecta ons, rules and consequences for non‐compliance.

Students are able to enter toilet blocks unsupervised

unless there is an issue.

When necessary, students are removed from the

playground. When necessary, younger students are

escorted by staff to and from toilet blocks for a defined

period of me. When necessary, increased supervision and

monitoring occurs of the secondary toilet block.

Most days, Baradine Central School is very proud of the

student body’s posi ve behaviour and respect for school

values and rules.

My mantra to the students K‐12 is Be happy, be safe, learn

lots!

Anzac Day is commemorated on April 25th. This year is very

significant as it marks 100 years since World War 1. Later in

the year on November 11 we will pause to remember

Armis ce Day (the end of World War 1) and the 100 year

anniversary. Students at Baradine Central School have

researched Anzac Day and wri en about their findings in

personal projects. These will be on display for the

community in the Cultural Centre from 9am to 1pm on

Anzac Day.

Students are requested to meet staff at the Discovery

Centre in Wellington Street by 10.30 am for the annual

Anzac Day March.

Please wear full summer uniform with school hat or cap,

es, badges etc.

Our school student leaders will conduct the service in

Memorial Hall following the short service at the cenotaph.

Thank you to those families who have returned their

permission notes for the annual free health checks for all

our students conducted by the Coonamble Aboriginal

Health Service. The check includes dental, vision, hearing

and general health. Communica on occurs directly

between AMS and parents if a referral is issued for medical

follow up.

I’d like to wish students, families and staff a safe and

relaxing two week vaca on. Staff return on Monday April

30th and students on Tuesday May 1st.

Kindergarten L3 Training

Throughout the course of the year, I will be comple ng a

total of 7 professional development sessions in Walge

around Kindergarten Literacy, Learning and Language. This

program supports all areas of literacy development and is

proven to have fantas c results. The training allows me to

develop individualised, independent ac vi es that support

students learning needs as well as explicit teaching to

enhance their skills. Developing rich conversa ons,

exploring a variety of books and early wri ng skills have

been the focus over the first two sessions.

I look forward to developing my skills and understandings

to improve the reading, wri ng and language skills of

young children.

On Thursday 29th March Baradine Central School held its

annual Easter Hat Parade. The parade consisted of three

categories: Easter Hat, Colourful Clothes or Easter

character. There was a winner and highly commended for

each sec on across both Infants and Primary. A huge

thank you to all parents and carers who took the me to

help their children create such wonderful, crea ve hats.

The overall par cipa on and involvement was a huge

success.

AUSTSWIM On Wednesday 21st March I a ended AUSTSWIM training

in Gunnedah. The day started at 8am and finished at

5.30pm, with 3 hours prac cal in the middle. On the day I

learnt about the different strokes, survival strokes and

drills to correct and teach these strokes. I also engaged in

different rescue approaches to both teach and use.

Following the training, I am now to complete an online

exam and a number of swimming lessons across all

different swimming abili es.
