THE language of flowers

By: Daniella BallarinoTHE language of flowersFlowers are not only beautiful and colorful, but they have meaning too. They have a language of their own. People purchase different flowers for different occasions. Flowers come in various colors with different meanings for each color, such as love, purity, joy, and friendship. They are symbols to represent your feelings and are part of traditions. The poinsettia, also known as the Christmas Star, became associated with Christmas many years ago. There was a story of a poor boy who brought weeds when he couldnt afford anything more for his church. The weeds bloomed into beautiful red flowers, which surprised everyone. From then on, people in the area would always leave these flowers on the altar on Christmas. Typically, women are expected to receive flowers from men. This is because there are more holidays geared towards women, such as Valentines Day and Sweetest Day. Although flowers have many meanings, they dont have to. You dont have to worry about size like you would if you were buying clothes for someone. Most people are happy to receive flowers for any occasion, or for no reason at all.
