Since the last letter,
I
have
been
very busy widt
tite work here
at
Colegio Biblico. The
previous
letter
mentioned my trip to the National Missionary Convention
in St. Louis over the Thanksgiving break. This tr ip
was made and everything worked
out
extremely well at the convention. During the convention. Dean Gary
(our next president) and I had time to outline our program of work at Colegio Biblico. He was introducing
me as his public relations man while we were at the convention.. He does have a
lot
of good ideas for the Colegio.
Many
of his ideas will
mean more
work
fo r me, however.
The month of December went very rapidly. Rosa and I
both
would
like to thank
those
of
yo u
who sent us Christmas
cards and other greetings during th e holiday season. They all
meant so much to us. During December, I was busy in preparing
a special
fund
appeal fo r Colegio Biblico
and
I was also
engaged
in getting the Colegio Biblico missionary calendar ready to
print
The
highlight
of th e month, however, did no t arrive unti l December
wasalmost gone. Grandmother came to visit During her visit, we
were able to
take a
few
days
of f
an d travel
to Saltillo and visit with
the Northrup family on their ranch. This trip was particularly
relaxing
fo r
me
and helped
me recuperate from the work which
I had been doing. The big surprise of the trip came on
the
morning
of the 28th. as we awoke to approximately 2 inches of snow
covering the
Northrup
ranch. It has been several years since it
ha s
snowed
in
Saltillo and
all
of th e children on t he s tr ee ts were
really enjoying
their
new toy.
January was also a very
busy
month.
Included
in it was
a 10 day trip to Illinois and Indiana for
th e
entire f ami ly . We
represented Colegio Biblico
at
a faith promise ralley
at
Fortville,
Indiana and also spoke at
several
different locations
in
th e
Illinois
area. During the trip, we were able to fellowship with: Ken and Linda Smyth; Vince and Sandy McFarland; and Monty
and Diane McClenahan. These visits brought back many memories of our college days at Platte Valley. It .wasgood
to
learn
some
of th e
things which

\Mio we

doing. While I
visited
th e
campus
of
Lincoln Christian
Seminary, I also was able to talk with Terry
Fraker ano ther classmate from PVBC.
Aside
from
th e
t rip north, the re
were many other things which kept us busy
on campus. I was caught working very long
hours in the prin t shop in getting
out
th e
Calendar
and also
the
February
issue of
th e
Border Christian.
In addition to
these
activities, we also represented Colegio Biblico
in th e Houston,
Texas
area on
th e 25th of
January.
Presently, I am in a short lull of
activities in the print shop. I am waiting to
receive the completed copy for our school catalogue from
one
of ou r missionaries in the Mexico City area. He does
artwork for many of tiie missionaries in Mexico and I contracted with him the job of preparing the school catalogue.
Once this arrives, I will be very busy again as the Colegio wants to have the 54 page book ready for distribution at
the Bi-lingual Convention
at
the end of
this month.
I should be receiving it in the next day or two.

The present
student body
is down a lit tle
bit
this year. We have
ha d
considerable problems with th e
Mexican counsulate in getting the students across the border. This is one of the reasons for the drop in
enrollment. Things are looking up for the student
body nextyear,
however. All of th e faculty seem to be
pulling together under the direction of the interum president, Johnnie Smith, in an effort to enlarge the
student body next year. My part in this project is to work very close with a program through th e mails in
an effort to encourage prospective students in all of Latin America. Presently we are in contact witf.
young people in six different Latin American countries. We have se t the goal of doubling th e enrollment

Weare
now
making some plans for this summer s activities. We will
no t
be traveling as much during th e
coming summer as we did last summer, but , we do plan to
make
a short t rip into di e Platte Valley area after the
National Christian Convention in Denver. We have been asked to participate in a VBS program in Lyman, Nebraska
during th e fnst of June. I will no t be able to make this engagement,
bu t
there is some possibility
that
Rosa an d th e
two little ones might fly to Scottsbluff and aide the Lyman group in their VBS. I would dien pick them up prior
to the National Christian Convention. I am going to be forced to stay close to the campus as we will be moving
the print shop into the Multi-Purpose Building on campus. This move may take most of ^e summer as I will probably
have to do some of th e
work
in getting
t he n ew
location ready for
th e
move.
During the past summers, we have been able to build up a sizeable reserve in our fund. Because of being
able to visit camps, VBS s and churches we have been able to use the additional income to carry us through the school
year. We will
no t
have that privlledge this year. Please pray for our work an d also that th e needed finances will come
in as
they
are needed during th e coming s choo l year . We will i nc lude a complete financial report in o ur n e xt l et te r
This report will include all income and expenditures for th e year of 1976.
Thank-you for
your
continued support through the means of your prayers and your gifts.

After such
a long
period of no
newsletter,
it
seems
hard to
begin
with what should be
said
at this t ime. I know
that
many of you
may still be
wondering about our
condition
because
of the
accident in April and I suppose this would be a good place
to
begin this newsletter. We
praise God in that we are all back to our work
with
Colegio Biblico in our regular activit ies. I am
still
trying
to
take
it
easy
on
my back although this
is an
extremely hard thing
fo r
me
to
do
with
so many things to be done here. Rosa's
broken
back is feeling as though it was never
broken
and my
back
still gets sore if I do a little
too
much to it. Billy is getting along
with his leg as though
it
were never broken. He can
now
run
and
jump
and
play with all of
the
kids
on campus.
Many prayers have been
answered
concerning us
and
our physical
condition.
My face still
hasn't
received all
of
it s feeling back, bu t I
can
tell
that more
feeling is
coming
as
time
progresses.
Even though
we
were away from
Eagle Pass
fo r
almost
three and
a
half months,
we
were
able to keep rather
busy with
speaking dates, VBS's,
the
NACC
and a family reunion. Our
first
VBS this summer
was
with the church
in
Lyman, Nebraska. This
was
scheduled fo r June the 7 th
through
the
12th. During the same week, I visited th e VBS in Berea, Nebraska for
two
days while
Billy, Barbara
and
Rosa
held down
th e
fort at
Lyman. I was able
to
be in
Lyman for
4
days during
the week and
in Berea
for
a
total of
3
days
including
Sunday. Following this week of
VBS, we
worked with th e VBS program
in Minatare, Nebraska fo r th e week
of June 14-18. Sunday the 20th
of June found us in Turner, Montana for the services there. The following Sunday we presented
two
services in Havre at Sixth Avenue Christian Church . The t ime spent in Montana was refreshing
to
the
entire fami ly. We were able to reunite ou r friendships with many of our Christian friends
in
t he s ta te and gain
a
better knowledge of what
is
being don e fo r the Lord
in
Montana.
We
were
able to visit Harold Hamon and the Big Sky Christian Youth ranch during
our
visit. This seems
to be a
g reat ven tu re for the
Lord.
After the
trip
to Montana,
we
made our
way
to
Estes Park,
Colorado for
a family
reunion
over
the
fourth of July. It was
good to reunite
with
my
family after a
two
year break. Immediately
after
our reunion, I made th e trip to
Denver
fo r the
North
American Christian Convention.
Once
again it was a great blessing to be able t o mee t
with
so many concerned people about our accident.
It seemed that I was always running into someone who
had heard
about our misfortune
and
had
to
explain what had happened
again.
Our origional plans were
to
return
to Eagle Pass
right after the North
American, but
because of
a
planned
operation
on my mother,
we
decided to wai t unt il thi s
was
completed.
My
last
speaking
engagement fo r the summer was with t he Rock
Springs,
Wyoming church on t he 18t h of
July., Once we
found
out
that
my mother was going to be OK, we made
the t rip back
to Eagle Pass,
araying.j3ere
on the
23rd
of July.
Our
first
activities
in
Eagle Pass were
putt ing the house back in order . Remember,
we
left
in April thinking that we
would be
gone
only
10
days. Those ten
days
stretched
into
over
three
months and a lo t of things
had
to be done
in
getting
t he yard and
house
back
into
condition.
In th e
last
week, I have prepared
two
complete mailings fo r Colegio Biblico, a
total
of
almost 20,000
pieces
of
paper.
It
had been
since
January
that
Colegio Biblico
had anything
along
the order of promotional
material placed in
the
mails. Much still needs
to
be
done before
classes
can begin. That accident really-putxiur
promotional
program
behind.
Things really
look
good
fo r
th e coming
yea r a t
Colegio Biblico. At
last count, we
are
ej^ecting approximately 60 male students and 30 female students. This looks to be a record
breaking year
fo r
Colegio Biblico. In
the
next week or two, I
must
see that
the
print shop is
relocated in the Memorial building in order to convert the present printing facility into
tempory housing for our record number of male students expected.

OF
THE BAKER FAMILY
November 1, 1976
Dear Fr iends in the Lord
Greetings in the name of our Lord and may you all be happy and well-as we areThanks
to Him We thank God for the interest which you showin our lives and the encouragement
which you bestow upon our work at Colegio Biblico, Things are pretty well here. We are
busy, Busy, BUSY because of tiie coming and past
events-
I finished playing for two nights
of an areayouth
ralley last night There will
be a concert presented by a deaf concert pianist,
JaneStuckenbruck, on
November
the 13th Priorto the concert, I
will
beattending a
special
music clinic in Dallasfor a few days. The National Missionary Convention and the Basketball
Tournament at Cookson Hills will also involve many ColegioBiblico personnel.
The
kids
are
doing
pretty
good.
Theyboth have beenkindof sickand I
guess
that it's just
the flu or something They seem to getover it and then it starts again. Theyhave both grown
verymuch. I can't believe that Barbie will be a. yar old in the next week. Shereally walks
goodand tries to talk quite a bit
She s
also a terrible cry baby.
No,No,
NO, Tm
not pregnant again
We heard
that the
Walt
Hinebauch's got that idea from
the above picture. Please forget any of those ideas Just a little on the funny side.
Even
though
I
have
lost 10 lbs
since September,
I
hope
to lose another 10 lbs
soon.
I hope
sol
Lord
willing,
Bill will
be
going
to the
National Missionary Convention. He will
be
leaving
Eagle Pass with another Colegio missionary on the 15th of November and return a week later.
Pray for them that they will havea safe trip.
You wouldn't believe the ram we have been having
here.
It's
rained
for 3 days straight. We
were ready to anchor our house down to keep it from floating down the street. Now it
probably won't rain
again for 8 months or a year It's either so dry and hot that we can't
stand it or it's so wet wealmost drown. During one of the youth ralley meetings in Piedras
Negras last weekend, the
water was
so bad that
when
a little
boy
got out of the
car
to
go
into
the church building, he fell ina hole withwater up to his neck. Praise the Lordhe was old
enough to keep his feet under
him.
The water
has
also
been
getting
into the
print
shop
where
Bill
spends most
of
his
time. During
one day last weekthere was almost a half inch of water on the floor. Any of you who are
familiar
with printing will understand what humidity like that would do to paper andthe
printing
processr
He
isjust finishing up the next
edition
of the
Border Christian. You
may
have received
your copy by the time that you
read this. He
has
been
doing quite a bit of
workon the mailing listand now ismailing out over 10,000 copies of this publication for
Colegio Biblico. He has a staff of five students working with him for a total of 15 hours
per week per.stin cjit and this
iclps
out quite a bit, but he still needs to get a full time
secretary to handle much of
the work He s responsibje
for
two
completely
different
publicity
thrusts, one to the
United
States andanother into
Latin America.
He is also looking
for a printer to
relieve
some of this responsibility But, until
then,
the entire program is
his from much
of the
copy
writing, to the
set-up work
and then the
printing
and
mailing.
In the last
three months,
he
has
seen to it that approximately
100,000 items were placed
in
the
mails fo r Colegio Biblico
Once again, wethank you for the continued interest which you have shown for the work
of Colegio
Biblico
and our part in thisgreatministry to
Latin America. Colegio Biblico
is a major key to the evangelization of Latin America andyouarea major key in keeping
us here Your
prayers
and
financial
support
provide
uswitha
means
of
staying
hereand
continuing with the work which we have begun.
We
want to
wish all
of youa
wonderful
Thanksgiving dayandmay God bless you even
more during
th e
coming
months.

I t
is
your continued

through your

and

which have
enabled us to continue with the work which
we
are doing here. All of
Latin America will feel the effect of our joint venture here. During the
first three and a

years here, I have spent the majority of
my
time
in
developing a promotional

for Colegio Biblico.
Through
the continuance
of
this program we
are
striving
for a goal of
500
students
by 1986 The
effects of our promotional program are
just now
beginning to take hold.
We had an increase of enrollment of almost 70 this year. Three and a
half years
ago
only three countries
were
represented in the Colegio Biblico

eight
represented. We

Last month was a busy one for a ll of us at Colegio Biblico. Rosa and I
were both able to attend the National Miysionary Convention in Dodge City,

Rosa

She has been directing the
making
of dresses for the group. During December the choir will be very busy.
Concerts

scheduled for the 8th and the 10th in the Eagle Pass

following the final performance on the 10th, we will be leaving in the bus
