PRESIDENT’S PEN:
By the time you read this it will
be some time in November. This is of
course my favorite time of year. And
as usual, we’re already seeing
Christmas items on the shelf. I get all
excited about the Fall and the holiday
season. I could care less about
Halloween, but when October is here,
you see change all around you. The
temperatures, the leaves, the overall
attitude of people. It’s a time to pull
out the recipes for your favorite baked
treats. Planning the perfect menu for
the Thanksgiving and Christmas
meals. What about the joy we get
when you know you’ve got the perfect
gift for someone special? We make so
many plans that will certainly create
beautiful memories for years to come.
And how blessed we are to live in an
age of digital video and photographic
equipment to record those memories.
I like to look through the many
digital files I’ve created and see the
pictures of the family and how we’ve
grown and changed. I look forward to
the upcoming holidays and the times
we’ll spend together. And the
grandkids, well they just grow up too
fast!
I also believe that we are in the Fall
season of our life here on earth. God
has prepared a celebration like none
we’ve ever known. And He has
already purchased the perfect Gift for
someone special, and that someone is
you. He spared no expense because He
loves you that much. He has recorded
the good and bad things of your life
and unlike me, He doesn’t need digital
equipment to do so. He delights to see
you grow in His Word and is ready for
the celebration. We are His children;
He is our God. It doesn’t get any
better than that!
Happy birthday Jesus!

Plainsmen Quartet is accepting
applications for a male vocalist, either
lead or baritone. (Current lead singer
can move to baritone if candidate is

should be Christian, clean cut, non-
smoker, friendly and willing to work

Southern Gospel Music and/or a desire

The BAGMA Christmas Party will be December 11, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. It will be held at
First Baptist North Channel Church located at 13817 Force St., Houston, TX.
Sponsors need to bring a meat dish, Soloists bring a salad and/or dessert, and Group Members bring the veggies and a meat dish or a dessert. Please bring enough to feed your group plus 1 (one) to ensure we have plenty to go around. It would be helpful if you could bring a jug of tea or a liter of soda also. BAGMA will furnish the coffee, paper goods and bread. Come and bring your family and friends. Hope to see you there!!!
Ricky Hutchings, husband of BAGMA Secretary Pat Hutchings, joined the Sea Bees, a branch of the Naval
Reserve. He did a short tour in Spain, which was the only overseas place he was ever sent. Since he was in
the Sea Bees he never got to travel on a ship, they always flew to their destinations. Their job was to go
ahead of the ships and build the airstrips, ship landings or what ever was needed. He received an honorable
discharge. He now works as a crane operator but can operate any piece of heavy equipment he is asked to
operate.
Lawrence Theodore “Ted” Allen, the stepfather of BAGMA Secretary Pat Hutchings, was in the Marine
Corps. He served during World War II and received an honorable discharge in 1948. He later worked in
sales, which is how he met Dorothy, Pat’s mom. They were married in 1975 and later they moved to
Amarillo. He passed away in 1996.
