BAFFLE

Baffle is a suspended light that is based on the notion of creating intimacy, softness and warmth in open plan environments, as well as creating acoustic privacy by absorbing sound.

3 — 4 Introduction

Providing a sense of acoustic privacy, Baffle assists in dampening sound levels, effectively fading conversation into background noise. It encourages better communication, controlled conversation and effective output in individual and collaborative scenarios. Baffle comes with a Tridonic LED plate that emits a dimmable, warm white light. In combination with this, the light shade is made of a grey woollen felt, creating a sense of warmth and comfort to the workplace. Its large size enables Baffle to successfully assist in wayfinding, particularly in open plan offices where meeting spaces may be hard to spot from a distance away. With Baffle, guests and those unfamiliar with the office are able to simply look for the light fitting as a way for direction.

Designer Baffle

Founded by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien over

10 years ago, Doshi Levien is an internationally

acclaimed design studio based in London.

Nipa’s work is strongly influenced by her

upbringing in India, where she began to explore the

link between craft, design and cultural identity,

while Jonathan trained in fine cabinet making

before perusing industrial design.

The pair has designed a variety of successful

products for Schiavello, including the Parley and

Goodwood tables in 2015, and OTM table in 2014.

ColourLab Schiavello’s innovative ColourLab brings a considered and cohesive

palette of finishes to working and living spaces. Curated by Giulio Ridolfo

and developed by Schiavello, the new palette beautifully balances colour,

texture and layering across a variety of materials.
