LONDON Swimming Pool Company Ltd is proud to have headed

up the complete renovation of the Trinity School pool complex in

Croydon, Surrey, which was awarded Gold for Best Refurbishment

Project 2008 at the British pool industry’s ‘Oscars’ in Brighton in February.

The brief for the complicated project entailed taking the very

old-fashioned 1960s pool facility into the 21st Century, bringing it up to

the very highest standard for a 25-metre pool in line with international

regulations for competition swimming.

The work included adjusting the dimensions of the pool and installing

electronic timing systems and a scoreboard. The impressive transformation

has already paid off with Years 7 and 8 winning the Croydon Schools’

Inter-school Swimming Championships in convincing style.

The pool is an area that the school is very proud to show off and the

swimming instructors say all those who see it are bowled over by the new,

bright and clean-cut appearance. Every single tile inside the pool, the

pool hall, the changing and shower rooms were removed and replaced

and London Swimming Pool Company extend their thanks to Dyson

Briggs for carrying out this work on their behalf. A total refit of the

spectator gallery, and painting and decorating throughout, was also part

of the project specification.

The pupils are very excited by their new pool and, in particular,

appreciate the much-improved water quality and the changing rooms.

In fact, so good is the water quality now that it allows the asthmatic

husband of one of the Trinity Sports Club members to swim in a pool

once again for the first time in years. The advanced water treatment

systems were supplied and installed by Aquatrol Ltd.

‘The works were managed and carried out in a very professional manner

with an extremely successful high-end result,’ said Robin McKinlay, estates

manager at Trinity School, who has been co-ordinating the project with

Jamie Smith, director of London Swimming Pool Company.

One of the main directives from the board of governors was that the

works cause minimal disruption to the everyday life of the school and

Robin is particularly grateful that this was achieved throughout the

four-month modernisation, thanks to careful planning and liaison.
