Large Binder Check parent section every night; everything
else stays in the binder HW section is student’s responsibility
Small Binder Kept at school with all graded work Sent home twice per marking period

Phone Policies Students are not allowed to make phone calls
home during the day. Period. Cell Phones are not allowed in school unless
written permission is obtained from Ms. Lane. (MCPS Policy)

Independent reading (1 skip night/week)
Occasional additional assignments Weekly: Written Response Journal (due by

Absences Excused absences – Student work will be
provided upon return, or placed on the drop off table if requested (shared responsibility)
Unexcused absences – Student work will be provided upon return (student responsibility)

School-Related Absences Some fifth grade clubs take students out of school
during the school day. Students are expected to pick up missed work on the drop off table and return it the following day (student responsibility)
