OVERVIEW
WHY GLOBAL LIBERAL ARTS PROGRAMME (GLAP) The first Liberal Arts Programme in Hong Kong
Hong Kong is uniquely situated to reap the rewards as well as address the challenges ushered in by the forces of Globalisation and the “Belt and Road Initiative”
GLAP aims to develop students into critical and analytical thinkers, problem solvers and human well-being promoters who can catch these unprecedented opportunities as well as tackle the complex challenges across national borders, cultures and politics

STRONG ADVISING SYSTEM
• The GLAP programme mounts on a strong advising system.
• Every student will be assigned an academic advisor.
• Students are required to discuss with their own advisor to select 10 elective courses across different professional study areas, some of which will be taken abroad, to form a coherent individualised path of study.
• Under the guidance of a supervisor(s), they are also required to complete a capstone research project which will enable them to integrate the multi-campus experience and inter-disciplinary knowledge for addressing problems and issues arising in social sciences, arts or business.
STUDENT EXPERIENCE
GLOBAL EXPERIENCE Global experience forms an integral part of the programme. GLAP students will be able to:
Study abroad in two (up to three) different continents (Africa, Americas, Asia, Australia or Europe)
Study at Lingnan’s extensive partner university network (210+ partners in 43 countries/regions) or as visiting student outside our exchange network for short-term programmes or semester-long programmes
Study at some of the world’s most prestigious universities, namely the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), King’s College London, University of Toronto, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, University of Tokyo, Kyushu University, Waseda University, National Taiwan University and Yonsei University
GLOBAL EXPERIENCE (CON’T) Enriched by the overseas experiences, students will develop a “global
consciousness” and become “global citizens”, with the capacity to pursue lifelong learning with rigor, purpose and empathy.
GLAP students participating in student exchange and/or study abroad programmes will receive free air tickets between Hong Kong and exchange destination and the tuition fees for visiting programmes will be sponsored by the University.
A number of scholarships and financial aid will also be available to eligible students.
MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME Every GLAP student will be assigned a mentor who will share
his/her life experience and success stories in academic study and career building with their mentees.
The mentors are distinguished and committed Hong Kong and Global Leaders with splendid achievements in their careers, such as The Honourable Bernard Charnwut Chan GBS, JP, Mr. Rex Auyeung Pak-kuen, JP and Professor Frederick Ma Si-hang GBS, JP.
ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
The GLAP organises a wide range of enrichment activities to enhance students’ professional knowledge and personal development. These include:

• Local, mainland and overseas internships
CAREER PROSPECTS The GLAP equips graduates with transferrable skills and
interdisciplinary knowledge which can be applied to different industries.
With their own specific professional study area, GLAP graduates can also apply the area knowledge into related career fields.
Our graduates are expected to - enter top graduate and professional programmes start enterprises and become leaders in business,
management and industry work as leading policy makers in government and
in international organizations like the United Nations and in non-profits and non-governmental organizations.

ADMISSION Admission Requirements –JUPAS (JUPAS code: JS7123) The GLAP adopts programme-based admission. Applicants must have obtained the following results on the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination: a. English Language*: Level 3 b. Chinese Language: Level 3 c. Mathematics: Level 2 d. Liberal Studies: Level 2 e. One Elective Subject: Level 2 * Higher subject relevancy weight (x2)
