We say farewell to Fiona Mudd from our Secretarial team who has been with the surgery for 27 years and Val Elvidge our Lead Dispenser who has been with us for over 22 years. We would like to thank them for their contribuon to the development of the pracce and their service to paents. They will be missed greatly by their colleagues. We wish them well for the future. Nicola Sheader, a member of our Dispensing team leſt the pracce in September to develop her own beauty business. We wish Nicola good luck for the future. When contacng us by phone: Like many GP pracces we are experiencing increased workload and we recognise that our call volume has increased. Currently our recepon phone lines are taking incoming calls for 12 hours per day and our dispensary phone lines are taking prescripon orders for 7 hours per day. To help address this we have created a dedicated call centre which is staffed 8am-12noon. Therefore we encourage paents to ring during the morning when more staff are available to answer your call. During the short me we have been doing this we have seen a huge improvement in our response me. ALL TELEPHONE NUMBERS WILL REMAIN THE SAME. Confidentiality Statement Your confidentiality is very important to us. We aim to respect and maintain your confidentiality. We will normally only share your identifiable personal data and information you have given us with other organisations with your permission. However, in certain circumstances, where serious risk to the safety of the public or an individual, e.g: a child, we may need to share information without your consent. The information shared will be kept to the minimal relevant amount. Additionally, anonymised patient information may be collected to inform research and service provision in the area, i.e: how many patients at the practice have a certain health condition.

Health and Wellbeing for Families—Health Day Feedback On Wednesday 23rd October the Patient Participation Group (PPG) in conjunction with Derwent Valley Bridge Library (DVB) hosted “Health and Wellbeing” event at East Ayton School. The event included many local organisations such as PCSO Police, Heathy Choices/Child Teams, Childline, Carers Resource, Park Run, Scarborough Athletic Club, Scouts and a Cookery Demonstration. The event helped to support children and parents and to display the importance of staying healthy. All the school children and adults thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The event was very successful with over 60 adults attending and over 200 pupils from the school. The surgery would like to thank all those who helped organise the event and those who participated. Annual Review Please remember to make an appointment for your annual review during your birthday month if you have a long term condition e.g. Diabetes or take regular medications. Please note that letters are no longer routinely sent to patients.

Car Parking at West Ayton Surgery We are aware our car park is getting busier. Plans are in place to improve this in the future. When parking at the surgery please park responsibly. The rear car park is reserved for staff parking. Overflow parking down the side of the building is for emergency use only. If you need to park at the side of the building please be considerate to other users and leave enough room for vehicles to get through. Alternatively there is on street parking available on West Acres Close.

Scarborough Survivors Lasting Power of Attorney Do you have a Lasting Power of Attorney for a family member, friend or someone you care for? Please visit reception with a copy to update their records.

Fund Raisers Sunrise walk On Sunday 22nd September staff took part in the Sunrise Walk. The team set off at 6am to walk the 6.5 mile route to help raise funds for St Catherines Hospice. A total of £137.82 was raised for this fantastic cause. Samaritans On Tuesday 5th November staff held a sparkle themed fund raising event and non-uniform day. A total of £79.21 was raised for this fantastic cause. Staff would like to thank everyone for their kind donations towards this worthwhile cause.
