ﺣﻣ ﺑﺳSurah An Naml Surah An Naml 29 August 2017 – 07 Dhul Hijjah 1438 Page 1 Surah An Naml ( ﻟﻧﻣ ) – Ayat 80 to 81 Ayah 80 –( َ ِ َ ُ ِ ۡ ُ ٰ َ ۡ َ ۡ َ َ ُ ِ ۡ ُ ﻟﺻﱡ َ ءٓ َ ﱡﻋ َ ِ ْ ۡ َ َ ِ ِ ۡ ُ ) (Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear nor can you make the deaf to hear the call (i.e. benefit them and similarly the disbelievers). when they flee, turning their backs.) You will find commands and confirmations given to the Prophet ( ) and this is teaching us a civilization cannot only command, but also give confirmations, similar to motivations. The commands to the Prophet ( ) are to not be sad or tight in the chest, and to also have tawakul in Allah ( ).The confirmation is he’s on the manifest truth. It’s important to give clear instructions and not only command, but motivate as well. A messenger is someone who delivers the message and moves on. For example, is there a postman who delivers the mail and waits with you? No, subhan Allah. Yet we are sitting and waiting for people to be guided, subhan Allah. The messenger delivers the message and it’s up to the people if they want to ‘open’ the message or not. Do we open all the emails we receive? No. The messenger conveys the message with glad tidings and warnings. But what happens after is not upon the messenger. As human beings we love to see achievement tangibly. For example we convey the message and expect the person to change immediately, and if they do we become proud of ourselves. Allah ( ) is telling the Prophet ( ) an important fact and us as well. ( ٰ َ ۡ َ ۡ ُ ِ ۡ ُ َ َ ِ ) (Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear): you cannot make a dead person to hear, who’s dead? The one whose heart is dead as a result of disbelief. How does a heart die? With sins, and as the sins accumulate, the heart becomes sick until it dies. If the heart is only being fed ‘tangible’ then it’ll die. The food of the heart is reminders. When a person is talking, it’s not the person himself who can make others hear, only Allah ( ) can make the people hear; this is His action. He knows who’s deserving to hear and who isn’t, subhan Allah. We cannot make anyone hear, especially if their heart is dead. After Ibrahim (as) completed the Bait Al Haram, Allah ( ) commanded Ibrahim (as) to announce the hajj and Allah made his message to reach the world, subhan Allah. You may say something, but Allah ( ) is able to make others in the world to hear it. Who will hear? An alive and sound heart, the one that’s remembering Allah ( ). A person might hear but it needs to be beneficial hearing which means to listen and act. May Allah ( ) make whatever we say to be beneficial hearing. Ameen. The Prophet ( ) is the best to speak and convey the message, but if the heart is dead then they can’t hear. ( َ ءٓ َ ﱡﻋ ﻟﺻﱡ ُ ِ ۡ ُ َ َ) (nor can you make the deaf to hear the call (i.e. benefit them and similarly the disbelievers),): the other group of people is they’re deaf. Their hearts are not dead, but what’s the deficiency they have? Deafness. Surah Al Anfal 2024: َ َ َ َ ِ ْ ُ َ ْ ُ ِ َ َ ّ ُ َ ﻮﻟُ َ َ َ َ ْ َ َ ُ ْ َ ْ ُ ﻧﺘَ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ O you who believe! Obey Allâh and His Messenger, and turn not away from him (i.e. Messenger Muhammad ) while you are hearing. َ َ ْ ُ ﻮﻧُ َ َ ِ ﺎﻟَ ُ ﺎﻟَ َ ْ ِ َ ْ ُ َ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ

And  be  not  like  those  who  say:  "We  have  heard,"  but  they  hear  not.

وواابب   شر   إإنن م   هللا   عند   االد يیعقلونن   ال   االذيین   االبكم   االص  Verily!  The  worst  of  (moving)  living  creatures  with  Allâh  are  the  deaf  and  the  dumb,  those  who

understand  not  (i.e.  the  disbelievers)  سمعهھم   خيیراا  فيیهھم   هللا   علم   وولو هھھھم  لتولواا   أأسمعهھم   وولو   أل عرضونن   وو م

Had  Allah  known  any  good  in  them,  He  would  have  made  them  hear.  And  if  He  had  made  them  hear,  they  would  [still]  have  turned  away,  while  they  were  refusing.

O  you  who  have  believed,  respond  to  Allah  and  to  the  Messenger  when  he  calls  you  to  that  which  gives  you  life.  And  know  that  Allah  intervenes  between  a  man  and  his  heart  and  that  to  Him  you  will

be  gathered.  Whatever   command   comes   from   Allah   and   the   Prophet   (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)   then   the   person   shouldn’t   be  rebellious,  but  obey.  In  the  beginning  the  person  could  hear,  but  what  did  he  do?  He  turned  away.  The   one   on   falsehood   doesn’t   want   to   face   the   truth;   he   can’t   have   eye-‐contact   with   the   truth,  subhan  Allah.  So  how  does  one  become  deaf?  He  hears  but  his  heart  turns  away.   If  there  was  any  goodness  in  the  heart  then  Allah )هلالج لج(   would  make  him  hear,  subhan  Allah.  If  a  person  has  an  atom  of  goodness   then   Allah   (هلالج لج)   will   make   him   hear   the   truth,   subhan   Allah.   Sometimes   one   word   can  change  a  person,  and  another  person  would  hear  the  same  thing  but   it  doesn’t  change  him,  why?  Because   Allah   (هلالج لج)   knows   if   there’s   goodness   in   the   hearts   or   not.   When   a   person   rejects   and  doesn’t  respond,  then  Allah )هلالج لج(   will  be  in  between  the  person’s  heart,  of  course  not  physically.  So  the  message  will   not   go   through   to   the   person’s   heart,   astaghfar  Allah.  O  Changer   of   the  Hearts,  keep  our  hearts  firm  on  Your  deen.  Ameen.

§ Imagine   a   king   sending   an   invitation   to   everyone   and   someone   official   from   the   king   comes   to  deliver  it,  who  are  the  successful  ones?  The  ones  who  respond  to  the  invitation,  they  will  get  more  than   they   can   imagine.  But   those  who  didn’t   go  will   then   realize  what   they  missed   it,   though   the  letter  was  official,  and  everything  was  official,   subhan  Allah.  Allah   (هلالج لج)   is   inviting  all  of  us   to  go  to  paradise,  He’s  inviting  all  of  us  to  make  us  alive,  so  will  we  respond?  The  one  who  won’t  respond  is  the  one  who’s  dead  and  deaf.

§ ( إإذذاا وولوواا مددبرريینن)  (when  they  flee,  turning  their  backs.):  what  makes  the  deaf  to  not  hear?  When  they

:(وولوواا )  turn  while :)مددبرريینن (   giving  their  back.  If  a  person  is  just  turning  away  then  ultimately  he  will  face  the  truth  at  death,  but  where  can  he  run  away  at  that  time?  The  angels  will  take  his  soul  and  the  people  will  bury  his  body.  Don’t  make  your  submission  at  the  time  of  death,  make  it  while  you’re  alive,  subhan  Allah.  If  someone  comes  accepting  and  coming  forward  then  Allah  will  accommodate  him.  If  a  person  comes  shy,  then  Allah  will  be  shy  from  him.  But  if  a  person  turns  away,  then  Allah  will   turn   away   from   him.  What  makes   people   to   not   listen?   Dead   heart,   deaf   and   turning   away.  What  makes  people  to  listen?  Alive  hear,  listening  and  coming  forward.  The  more  a  person  is  doing  this,  the  more  he  will  listen  beneficially.

Ayah  81  –  ( ددىى أأنتت ووما ـ لتهھمم عنن ٱٱلعمى بہ ـ تنا يیؤؤمنن منن إإال تسمع إإنن ضل ـ سلموونن فهھمم بـٴايی م )  (Nor  can  you  lead  the  blind  out  of  their  error,  you  can  only  make  to  hear  those  who  believe  in  Our

§ ( لتهھمم ـ ددىى ٱٱلعمى عنن ضل ـ (ووما أأنتت بہ  (Nor  can  you  lead  the  blind  out  of  their  error,):   ددىى) ـ (بہ  means  to  guide.  Guidance   is  to  display  the  message  and  act  upon  the  message.   In  this  ayah,   it’s  referring  to  acting  upon  the  message.  The  Prophet )ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص(   displayed  the  message  but  he’s  not  the  one  to  guide  the  people   to  act.  Truth  and   falsehood  are  both  are  being  displayed.  Truth   is  beautiful  on   its  own  but  falsehood  has  to  be  adorned,  it’s  up  to  us  to  choose  and  act.  The  entry  for  guidance  is  the  ears  and  eyes,  then  a  person  thinks.  Allah )هلالج لج(   is  telling  the  Prophet )ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص(   he’s  not  the  one  to  guide  the  blind,   and   what  makes   a   person   to   be   blind   from   the   truth?   Sins,   astaghfar   Allah.   The   one   who  follows   the   guidance   will   have   a   happy   and   guided   life   and   the   one   who   turns   away   from   the  guidance  then  he  will  have  a  hard  and  unhappy  life  and  he  will  be  resurrected  blind.

Surah  Ta  Ha  124:   أأعمى  االقيیامة   يیومم   وونحشرهه   ضنكا  معيیشة   لهھ   فإنن   ذذكريي  عن  رضض أأع   وومن

And  whoever  turns  away  from  My  remembrance  -‐  indeed,  he  will  have  a  depressed  life,  and  We  will  gather  him  on  the  Day  of  Resurrection  blind."

Someone   who’s   sinning   can’t   handle   facing   someone   who’s   obedient.   Our   limbs   will   not   be  beneficial   if   they’re  not   taking   the   guidance.  Our   eyes  will   not   really   see   if   they’re  not   taking   the  guidance,  our  ears  will  not  really  hear  if  they’re  not  taking  the  guidance,  subhan  Allah.

§ ( سلموونن تنا فهھمم م ـ (إإنن تسمع إإال منن يیؤؤمنن بـٴايی  (you  can  only  make  to  hear  those  who  believe  in  Our  Ayât  (proofs,  evidences,  verses,  lessons,  signs,  revelations,  etc.),  and  who  have  submitted  (themselves  to  Allâh  in  Islâm  as  Muslims)):  to  be  continued  in  sha’a  Allah.
