The AW149 is the latest-generation, military capable helicopter designed as a multirole and rapidly reconfigurable platform for a wide range of missions. It embodies advanced technologies, unparalleled safety and performance providing customers cost-effective solutions. The AW149 is Day/Night capable with a single pilot NVG compatible low workload ‘glass cockpit’. It’s advanced open-architecture mission system enables the quick and cost effective integration of customer-specific avionics and mission/weapon systems. Our Customer Support & Training Global Network provides AW149 operators a range of Service Plans and a state-of-the-art training capability, maximising operational safety and availability.

ROLES

Troop TransportThe flexible cabin allows up to 19 troops for logistic relocation or 16 equipped troops in several layouts that can be completed with retractable windows machine guns and ballistic protections.

SAR and Combat SARProviding two gunners at the front windows and four additional seats, the cabin provides a large unobstructed operation area and in flight access to the baggage bay for equipment storage. Optional mission consoles further enhances the mission capabilities.

Special Forces OperationsFast insertion system for up to two troops per side, available with typical back-to-back seat layout, can be combined with firing capability on the forward cabin windows.

CASEVAC/MEDEVACEasy reconfiguration for a number of self-contained systems, from 3 stretchers medical module kit to 4 NATO stretchers transversal installation kit.

Command and Control, Intelligence, Surveillance, and ReconnaissanceHigh integration of all mission systems thanks to the open-architecture in house developed avionics with full range of avionics and tactical equipment.

Close Air Support/Armed EscortFully integrated external weapons system and defensive aids suite complements the windows and door mounted machine guns, providing combat effectiveness and high battle survivability.

Re-supply/external load liftUp to 2,800 kg sling load capability allows the most effective equipment supply in the field, together with an extremely accessible, regularly-shaped and flat-floor cabin.

SPACE AND ACCESSIBILITY

The AW149 has a large, easily-accessible, unobstructed main cabin, enabling rapid transport of heavily laden troops to their drop-off point in support of high-tempo operations and all mission equipment. Large sliding doors on both sides of the helicopter and low floor height assist ease and speed of egress and boarding, including rapid recovery of stretchers on the ground or in flight using the hoist, whilst allowing simultaneous cover fire from window-mounted weapons (7.62 mm/12.7 mm machine gun).The interior can be rapidly reconfigured into specific configurations, including SAR/CSAR, MEDEVAC/CASEVAC, insertion and troop transport. A large cargo area, which is optionally accessible from the main cabin in flight provides capacity for mission equipment, such as stretchers and medical kit, keeping the troop cabin free of carry-on equipment.
