written and directed by Mary Raftery, on the history
of psychiatric hospitals in Ireland. This is a cutting-
edge social history series with sharp contemporary
resonances, delving deeply into the repressed psyche
of Ireland past and present, told through the voices of
those who have found themselves at the mercy of the
country’s psychiatric system.
FIANNA FAIL (NEW) 2 X 52’On Friday 25th February 2011 Irish voters went to
the polls and punished Fianna Fáil as they have never
punished any political party since the foundation of
the state. A new two part series tells the story of what
went wrong for Fianna Fail and what the future now
holds for the party.
GENEALOGY ROADSHOW (NEW)
Derek Mooney presents a brand new series for RTÉ
Television bringing The Roadshow’s crack historical and
genealogical team to help people find extraordinary
stories in their family as well as giving free advice on
how to track down a family history. This is a wonderful
opportunity to meet with experts in the field and fill in
the blanks revealing the true story of your ancestors.
Each week we feature a range of stories and people
who want to find their place in history. Our Genealogy
swat team investigate stories and determine whether
people are related to someone famous, or have a
connection to a big event in Irish history or can solve a
family mystery.
HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT (NEW) 2 x ‘52HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT is a new and exciting 2-part
series in which actor Liam Cunningham goes behind
the scenes in the secretive world of the international
Private Security industry. Operating at its core is a
small number of Irish contractors, some of whom

across Europe; others, sometimes controversially,
provide private security operations for international
businesses in developing regions across the world.
An uncompromising look at life as a private security
operator, this new prime-time series will reveal a world
never before seen on Irish television.
THE NATIONAL REHABILITATION HOSPITAL (NEW) 2 X 52’The National Rehabilitation Hospital has no surgical
teams. It doesn’t offer ‘cures’. However the NRH
does transform peoples’ lives. Patients in the hospital
have two things in common: they have all suffered a
disability as a result of a trauma and they are all in the
unit to learn how to live as full a life as possible. The
hospital is like a holistic boot camp where everyone—
from staff to patient to families—celebrates the
triumph of the human spirit.
THE SECRET MILLIONAIRE (NEW) 3 X 52’Three very different Irish millionaires turn their back
on their day-to-day lives and go undercover in some
of the most disadvantaged parts of Dublin, Cork and
Dundalk. Their search, for genuine local Irish charities,

pressing social problems including suicide, poverty,
drugs, disability and much more. On their journey

successful RTÉ Radio One series The Business. The

recession and discover inspiring stories of entrepreneurs
who are defying the odds and creating successful
companies.
Made by RTÉ Cork, every week George Lee will bring
the viewer on a very different journey to discover the
people behind business in Ireland. Whether it’s the local
shopkeeper or a cutting edge R&D development firm
they all have one thing in common – the will to take
risks and succeed and take Ireland forward.

of economic recovery, Pádraig Ó Céidigh returns

whole swathes of the population ending up on or
below the poverty line in years to come.
PROPERTY SHOCK – WHERE TO NOW? (NEW) 1 X 52’Almost 5 years on from his landmark documentary
Futureshock: Property Crash, Richard Curran looks back
on the predictions made at that time and evaluates

recovery be location specific rather than national?

Guard’s Shannon based helicopter rescue service
battle to save lives in some of the most hostile seas in

live as the disabled person. In each challenge, the
able-bodied person will have to simulate the conditions
facing their disabled companion in an effort to
