Students must register in order to participate. Club forms are available in the Front Office or from the Club Sponsor. Some clubs are limited to a number of participants. Intramural offerings change seasonally. Please see a PE Coach or Front Office for a registration form. Note: Sports offerings will vary throughout the year and may only meet twice a week. How to sign up for clubs – Step 1 – Pick up an application from the front office or the club sponsor. Step 2 – Return the application with parent’s signature to the front office or club sponsor. Step 3 – Before attending the first club meeting, make certain you have arranged for a ride home. Academic Bowl - Tryouts are open to current 6 th , 7 th and 8 th grade students The Autrey Mill Academic Bowl team competes against similar teams from middle schools across the state of Georgia. The team practices once a week after school in Room E874, on Mondays from 4:10-5:00. Tryouts will be on Tuesday, September 4th which will be a written (scantron) test. Then there will be a buzzer tryout for those who make it to the second round on Thursday, September 6th. Our first official practice of the year will be on Monday, September 17th in Ms. Doherty’s room, E874. Please listen to the school’s morning announcements for updates. Computer Coding and Technology Club (must get sign-up form from Ms. McGee, A152)

The Computer Coding and Technology Club is open to students who have an interest in Computer Science. It is recommended that students have their own personal laptop but it is not recommended. The Club will be capped at 20 students. Preference will be given to students who Competed last year. Experience is not required. Students in the club will have the Opportunity to learn Coding with various programs including: Scratch, Python, Makecode, Arduino Kits, Unity 3D, Graphic Design using Adobe Design Suite, 3D Modeling using Tinkercad and Sketchup, and much more. Students with the best projects in each category will get the chance to participate in the Fulton County Student Competition. The club starts on August 28, 2018 and ends the first week of April. Meetings are held on Tuesday mornings at 8 a.m.

Debate Team Autrey Mill’s Debate Team is run by Ivy Bridge Academy (payment must be made to Ivy Bridge Academy) with Shawn Beyer as the sponsor. We begin August 21st and the fee is $480 each semester. Come join our debate team and learn debate skills, logic and critical thinking, persuasive speaking and research processing. Become an effective communicator and critical thinker!

Drama Club/Jr. Thespian Troupe 88780 - Invitation Only (see Ms. McCook A151)

Junior Thespians is an honor drama society open to all students who have demonstrated a commitment to and an appreciation for the theatre. Students earn points towards induction through work onstage and backstage as well as attendance at plays and participation in theatre related camps and conferences during their middle school years. Upon earning 10 points, students will be invited to be inducted into the society. This organization is run by student elected officers and will hold its annual initiation ceremony in late fall. There are no regularly scheduled meetings. Students must complete a Points Form which is available from A151. FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) This is a student-sponsored club for students looking for good Christian fellowship. You don’t have to be an athlete to join…so come on out! F.I.G.H.T. Club

It is our mission to raise cancer awareness among young people by promoting the importance to fight for a better life in hopes of a cancer free world. We hope to raise awareness by participating in different community activities. Over the past few years Autrey Mill Middle School teachers and students raised money through the Pink Out, Blue Out, Student Council activities and Relay for Life. The funds we raise are donated to the American Cancer Society: Relay for Life. At Relay For Life communities come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. Date/Time: Thursdays, 8:30 a.m.

Francophone Club Purpose: To provide students with an additional opportunity to explore Francophone culture and practice speaking French. Students will enjoy activities such as French games, music, movies and food! FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) Membership is part of the Introduction to Digital Technology Class and is open to Autrey Mill 7th and 8th graders who are interested in Business, Entrepreneurship and Leadership. Georgia FBLA members are given the opportunity to compete in nearly 100 different competitive events at the region, state, and national levels. FBLA is a nonprofit student organization committed to preparing today’s students for success in business leadership. With over 50 years of experience, Georgia FBLA is the premiere organization for student leader. Date/Time: Wednesdays, 8:00am (Starts Wed. HOSA Club HOSA: Future health professionals is an internationally known organization that enhances the quality of

healthcare within our community. We will compete, volunteer, fundraise, and participate in several

learning sessions (including guest speakers). Some students will be working to attend a three day state

leadership conference in March.

HOSA membership is available to students interested in health professions. HOSA an organization that

promotes career opportunities in health and supports young people who plan to become the next

generation of health professionals. In our HOSA Chapter, we stress leadership through the election of

student officers and student run meetings. We emphasize participation through social activities, leadership

development sessions, business meetings and friendly competition by means of skill and academic

contests on the local, district, state and national

Interact Club Interact is sponsored by the Johns Creek Rotary Club and gives middle and high school students the chance to make a real difference while having fun. Together we will carry out at least two hands-on service projects a year: one that helps our school or community and one that promotes international understanding. If you want the opportunity to develop leadership skills, get involved by making a difference, make new friends, and have fun, then this may be the club for you. Knit Knackers Come learn to knit! If you can knit already, join other knitters and knit! Decide on projects together – scarves, bonnets, hats, blankets, even socks. Knit an item for yourself, as a gift for someone or to donate to an organization serving those in need. Bring your own supplies (your favorite needles and yarn) as there is a limited supply. Math Counts

The purpose of Math Counts is to compete against other middle schools in Fulton County, regionally, and possibly nationally in mathematics competitions and to inspire students to excel academically. Open to all AMMS students, selection based on testing tryouts.

Power Over Prejudice (P.O.P) This service club meets to find ways to make AMMS a safe pleasant environment for all students. POP Club participates in Multicultural Night, collects “pop tops” to support the Ronald McDonald House and supports efforts to stop bullying. Most of the POP members attend the Power Over Prejudice Summit in the fall during one of their years at AMMS. Students from ALL grade levels are welcome and encouraged to join! Our first meeting is Friday, September 15th.

Reading Bowl Club

Reading Bowl Club is for students who love to read! Students will read the middle grades Georgia Book Award

the AMMS Reading Bowl members will compete against other Fulton County Middle Schools in the Helen Ruffin

Reading Bowl.

Sociedad Hispanica de Amistad The name of this organization is the National Hispanic Society of Friendship. The purpose of the Society is to recognize scholarship, fellowship, and service by students of middle schools who are studying Spanish in the classroom, and to promote continuity of interest in Hispanic studies. The society is classified as a national and international service and academic society in the study of middle school Spanish and is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP).

Spanish Club In Spanish Club, we want students to enjoy learning about fun aspects of Hispanic cultures while learning and practicing Spanish. We will do fun, interactive activities to expose students to the Spanish language and culture in a low pressured environment. Activities could include games, art projects, making food, learning about music and dance, having dialogues and more. Come join the fun!
