Partners.Saleen Automotive was launched by race

driver Steve Saleen three decades ago and ini-tially focused on a mix of motorsports andtuned, high-performance Mustangs. Over theyears, the company has also tweaked a fewcompetitors, including the Chevrolet Camaroand Dodge Challenger and recently an-nounced it is upgrading the performance of theTesla Model S – though Tesla itself is doing agood job with its Insane and newly announcedLudicrous modes.

Despite resuming control, Steve Saleen’snamesake company is facing financial difficul-ties.

In 2000, Steve Saleen revealed his own su-percar – which it claims was the first of its kindfrom the U.S. Debuting at the August PebbleBeach Concours d’Elegance, it used a modifiedFord 351 V-8 to generate 550 horsepower, ablinding number at the time. Five years later,however, Saleen introduced a twin-turbo pow-erplant that bumped that to 750 hp and a ratedtop speed of 248 mph.

A racing version, theS7R, also debuted in 2000and continued through2007. It ran in a number ofdifferent series and evenearned a podium finish inits class at the 24 Hours ofLe Mans, taking 18th placeoverall.

The S5S Raptor, meanwhile, debuted at theNew York Auto Show in March 2008, and at$185,000 was meant to be a more affordableversion of the S7, which came in around the$400,000 mark in its final run. The Raptor’s5.0-liter supercharged V-8 was designed tochurn out 650-hp and hit60 in just 3.2 seconds.

our ability to continue as a going concern,” thecompany states, triggering what could becomean asset fire sale – unless  GA Global can churnup enough interest in the upcoming auction.
