POWERTRAIN AND DRIVING DYNAMICSJAGUAR QUICKSHIFT TRANSMISSION The Quickshift 8 speed automatic transmission is both fast and refined, with 8 closely spaced ratios keeping the engine within its most effective rev range for longer. The transmission's control system is both intelligent and adaptive, monitoring the driving situation together with the demands the driver is making of the car and responds to modify the gear shift strategy, ensuring the right gear is selected for every situation. In manual mode the Quickshift transmission delivers rapid precisely timed engine torque interventions during upshifts, creating a much shorter and crisper sounding shift while utilising the engine inertia to deliver a positive acceleration feel.

LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL A mechanical limited slip differential is fitted as standard to the F-TYPE S. This mechanical system allows the car to make best use of the available traction and offers the driver the opportunity to explore the car’s superb balance.

ELECTRONIC ACTIVE DIFFERENTIAL An electronic active differential is standard on F-TYPE V8 S and F-TYPE R. It is operated by an electric motor acting on a multi-plate clutch which can transfer torque to the wheel with the most grip. Fully automatic in operation, the system can apply full locking torque almost instantaneously. Working in conjunction with the stability, traction and ABS systems it allows for very fine control of power delivery and makes the optimal use of available grip.

TORQUE VECTORING The F-TYPE R's Torque Vectoring technology uses controlled braking on the inside rear wheel whilst feeding more power to the outside rear wheel, helping to increase steering performance and inspire even greater driver confidence. The system works in conjunction with the F-TYPE R's Electronic Active Differential to improve cornering capabilities and driver control.

JAGUARDRIVE CONTROL™ Offers different selectable modes to optimise the vehicle response depending on driving conditions and style.

DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC) Intervenes in demanding driving situations by applying braking to individual wheels and reducing engine torque.

TRAC DSC MODE Provides a higher intervention threshold for the DSC system.

DYNAMIC MODE By selecting Dynamic Mode the engine torque delivery characteristics are modified to sharpen accelerator pedal response. With the gearbox in Sport Mode the auto upshift points are raised while in Sequential Mode the gearbox will not auto upshift, with gear shifts becoming firmer and shorter. Steering assistance is also reduced for more steering ‘feel’. Dynamic Mode also optimises the car’s Adaptive Dynamic suspension settings to deliver a more involving driving experience.

CONFIGURABLE DYNAMIC MODE WITH DYNAMIC-I DISPLAY This system allows the driver to determine which characteristics are altered when Dynamic Mode is selected including engine responsiveness, steering, gear shift time and suspension settings (where Adaptive Dynamics is specified). The Dynamic-i display system allows the driver to display a range of performance information, including a stop watch with split times, brake and acceleration telemetry and a G-meter.

RAIN/ICE/SNOW MODE This mode moderates the responsiveness of the engine and optimises the gear change strategy to improve traction when road conditions are icy or adverse. When active, Rain/Ice/Snow mode selects second gear for pulling away on level ground. In these conditions and in this mode the vehicle increases driver confidence by reducing the effect of the road conditions on the vehicle behaviour.

CRUISE CONTROL WITH AUTOMATIC SPEED LIMITER (ASL) In tandem with cruise control, an Automatic Speed Limiter (ASL) allows the driver to select a maximum speed that should not be exceeded.

POWERTRAIN AND DRIVING DYNAMICS (CONTINUED)ACTIVE SPORTS EXHAUST This system features active valves which, when open, allow the exhaust gases to exit via a more direct route through the rear silencer, by-passing a number of the silencer baffle-plates to produce a richer, more exhilarating noise. The system also allows the driver to use a button on the centre console, (available as an option), to manually activate the bypass valves.

SPORTS SUSPENSION WITH ADAPTIVE DYNAMICS This system features a series of sensors placed about the car which measure vertical body movement, body roll and pitch 100 times a second, and can individually adjust each damper to help maintain a constant and level attitude. The system also measures steering input 500 times a second and is therefore able to predict the body’s roll rate, and adjust the corresponding dampers to reduce the rate of body roll. Similarly when the driver presses the brake or throttle pedals the system can predict the amount of pitch and can stiffen the front or rear dampers to reduce the amount of dive or squat accordingly. Benefits of the system include improved body control; improved ‘pitching’ behaviour; improved handling and agility as well as rapid detection and reaction to critical driving conditions and driver demands.

BRAKING SYSTEM The F-TYPE’s braking system has been optimised for each derivative to combine both performance and light weight, whilst delivering reassuring performance.

CARBON CERAMIC BRAKING SYSTEM The optional Carbon Ceramic Braking system is available on S and R models. The system provides greater resistance to fade and wear and delivers high levels of sustained performance in even the most demanding conditions. The system offers up to a 21kg weight saving, further reducing the "unsprung mass" of the car with corresponding benefits to both ride and handling. Derived from motorsport technology and featuring monobloc calipers with 6 pistons at the front and 4 pistons at the rear, this is the most powerfully performing braking system ever fitted to a Jaguar road car.

HIGH PERFORMANCE TYRES The High Performance tyre is designed and optimised for dry asphalt conditions. It offers enhanced grip under extreme driving conditions and is the tyre of choice for enthusiast drivers. The tyre offers additional steering precision as well as increased lateral and longitudinal grip. The tyre features a reduced tread pattern depth, essential for dry handling performance, so prudent driving is advised in very wet asphalt conditions due to the increased risk of aquaplaning in case of standing water

SAFETY AND SECURITYPEDESTRIAN CONTACT SENSING SYSTEM™ Industry-leading system that senses an impact between a pedestrian and the front of the car, it instantaneously raises the bonnet through a small distance in a very controlled way, to help prevent the pedestrian from contacting hard points under the bonnet.

EXTERIOR FEATURESADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING Sensors react to the car’s speed and steering input, and the system can deflect headlamp beams casting light deeper into corners, giving added confidence at night. Intelligent high beam automatically maximises driver visibility. Cornering lights illuminate areas to the side of the car at low speeds when the indicators are in use, or at larger steering angles, for example when parking.

INTELLIGENT HIGH BEAM ASSIST Intelligent High Beam Assist detects ambient light levels and oncoming traffic, switching automatically between high and dipped beams, when required.

BLIND SPOT MONITOR WITH CLOSING VEHICLE SENSING Blind Spot Monitoring uses radar sensors to remotely cover areas that cannot be seen either directly or by mirror, and helps alert the driver of overtaking traffic with an amber warning icon in the external mirrors. Closing Vehicle Sensing extends the monitoring zone rearwards from the blind spot zone to a distance of approximately 60m, helping alert the driver of fast-approaching vehicles in adjacent lanes.

REVERSE TRAFFIC DETECTION The Reverse Traffic Detection system assists when reversing the car out of a parking space. Sensors in the rear of the car help detect vehicles approaching from either direction.

REVERSE PARK CAMERA WITH GUIDANCE Combines a rear-facing camera with the Touch-screen information, it features coloured distance guides and on-screen guidance lines that move according to steering wheel angle to indicate the area into which the car will reverse.

MULTIMEDIATOUCH-SCREEN1 8 inch colour Touch-screen display that controls major functions including audio, climate control, Bluetooth® telephone connectivity, trip computer and navigation.

MEDIA HUB The Media Hub allows various devices to be connected to the car, whether this is wirelessly via Bluetooth® or through the Front Media Interface for audio and video. Located in the centre console storage box, a docking panel includes a 3.5mm auxiliary jack plug socket, a 12-volt power supply, plus two USB connectors that allow connectivity with a wide range of USB devices. Full function control of iPod or MP3 is available through the Touch-screen menus.

SINGLE SLOT CD/DVD2 Single slot CD/DVD which is capable of playing video and audio discs. File formats include Windows Media Audio (WMA), AAC and MP3.

MULTIMEDIA (CONTINUED)BLUETOOTH® AUDIO STREAMING A Bluetooth® equipped Jaguar, enables hands free use of your mobile phone at any time when the phone is in the car through the Touch-screen. MERIDIAN 380W SOUND SYSTEM A powerful 12-channel DSP amplifier featuring Audyssey MultEQ® audio equalisation, and Dynamic Volume Control with 10 speakers. The system also employs Meridian Cabin Correction technology with advanced DSP to compliment the acoustics of the vehicle, dramatically improving clarity and authenticity of sound.

MERIDIAN 770W SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM A surround sound system, with either Dolby® Pro Logic® IIx or DTS™ neo 6, and Dynamic Volume Control with 12 speakers. In addition to Meridian Cabin Correction the system uses Meridian Trifield technology to deliver a perfect stereo sound to both vehicle occupants.

NAVIGATION SYSTEM WITH HDD MAPPING1 HDD based system, providing faster access to data including, voice guidance, voice control input, Dynamic Route guidance, accessed through Touch-screen control system. The navigation system can be set to interact with the Virtual Instruments, on approach to a junction or turning navigation information will be displayed in the information dial in the Virtual Instruments.
