Spring 2019 –Winter 2020
Millions of people come to Pinterest looking for inspiration to create a life they love.
01
Pinterest is a visual discovery engine. It’s where you find and do what you love. With Pinterest, you can discover useful and relevant things that inspire you to do stuff.
People use it to discover ideas and inspiration in daily life: Where do I want to go on holiday? What should I cook for dinner? Pinterest is about discovering things – even if you don’t know what you’re looking for.
02
What is this?People use Pinterest to plan for all of the important moments in their life. This guide shows you what moments matter most and how your brand can create content that will reach them at the right time.
Mindset of PinnersPinners save ideas for themselves. On Pinterest, they’re being themselves (and not their selfie) so they’re discovering possibilities and content that relates to their life.
Why Pinterest? Reach people while they decide what to do or buy next. When they’re on Pinterest, they’re actively seeking new ideas and new products—so they want to hear from you!
Who can you reach? Over 250 million people around the globe use Pinterest every month. They’re logging in for all kinds of moments, from seasonal celebrations and major holidays to cultural events and daily inspiration. No matter what they’re planning or celebrating, Pinterest is where they come to discover their next great idea.
Why to think earlier? Many Pinners start thinking about activities long before they happen. For each moment, try adding your content early to reach this audience at the initial planning stage – while not forgetting the non-planners who seek ideas right up until the last minute.

Pinterest 100: The top trends to try 2019
On Pinterest, trends come from people all around the world. Each month, over 250M people – professionals, amateurs, enthusiasts– come to Pinterest to discover ideas they love.
The way we know an idea is trending is by looking at what they’re all searching for. If an idea gets more and more searches each month, and that upward trajectory holds steady for 6+ months, then it’s an official Pinterest trend.
Many Pinners plan early. Let Pinners follow your lead by saving inspiration two to three months in advance (or sooner). Take Christmas for example, people start searching and saving as early as August! But don’t forget the last minute shoppers looking for gift ideas in the week just before.

Step one Grab yourself a coffee because this shouldn’t feel like work
Step two Sign up for a new business profile (or upgrade your existing account) and access business basics, like analytics and exclusive features. It’s quick and free. Now you have a business account, head to your profile to add a clear profile picture, your location, customised profile cover and a helpful description.
Step threeNext up, it’s time to claim your website and other accounts (like Instagram) so you get credited when your customers save your content. Head to ‘Settings’ and ‘Claim’ to get started.
Step four Get Pinning! We recommend saving multiple Pins a few times per week - little and often is better than a once a week flurry, and you can use our scheduling tool to help. You should Pin your own content and mix it up with other content that inspires you too. Set up boards to organise your Pins and categorise your ideas.
Step five Check out your analytics. Remember that each Pin has an average lifespan of 105 days, so you will see activity over time. Keep an eye on your analytics to see what is working best for you.
Step six If you want to get really pro, we offer a range of ad products to drive impact and align with your business goals and creative needs. To promote your Pins to a target audience here’s how to get started...
Head to ‘Ads’ to create an ad campaign. Select your objective, audience and creative to start driving targeted traffic from prospective customers of your business.

Bonus!Once you’ve done that, there’s a couple of bonus items you can add to really optimise your profile. Add the ‘Pin It’ button to your website, making it easy for your customers to save your content (doing half the work for you!). You can also get ‘Rich Pins’ which helps content like recipes, articles and products stand out even more.
Bonus!Vertical images work best on Pinterest and you can add a text overlay to help people understand your content at a glance. Think of Pinterest like a search engine - every word counts. From your profile description to the names of your boards and each Pin description, use keywords to help you get discovered.
