Company Name Dutch INCERT
Company Details [email protected]
Company Description Dutch Incert is a network organization in The Netherlands that connects scientific
research, technological innovation and education with the transition to electric road
transport.
Dutch INCERT was founded in 2008 by the three Dutch Universities of Technology (TU
Eindhoven, TU Twente and TU Delft) and the Universities of Applied Sciences in
Rotterdam and Arnhem/Nijmegen (HRo and HAN).
As part of the PIB programme Arjen conducts a knowledge-oriented project on heavy
duty electric trucks for regional/intrahub and international transport. The aim of the
project is to create a strategic research agenda. This agenda will be available the
Dutch and Austrian governments to help formulate an appropriate regulatory
framework. Zero-emission city logistics was deliberately excluded from the scope of
this project, because of existing Dutch initiatives in this field (research, living labs).
What is the company
looking for?
Two reasons for participation:
1) Setting up a strategic research agenda on zero-emission heavy duty transport.
The general research question is: which issues need to be resolved to enable zero-
emission heavy duty trucks (40 tons) on the long haul distance (Rotterdam –Vienna).
The research agenda examines issues in three fields: technical, financial/economic
and social.
Technical issues include: drive-train, HV batteries, fuel cell technology, battery
management system (BMS), charging technology and standards, regenerative braking,
interoperability, from prototype to production.
Financial and economic issues include: TCO (total cost of ownership and use), Smart
charging, Storage, Routing, Impact for road authorities.
Social innovations needed for success include: knowledge development for acceptance
among fleet managers, planners, drivers, governments and (end) users.
Important stakeholders I am looking for the development of the strategic agenda are
governments, international and regional logistics and transport companies, OEMs and
manufacturers and knowledge institutions.
2) Project initiation Smart eTruck Corridor Rdam Vienna
What is the idea: demonstrate that an electric truck is suitable in a day to day business
for freight transport on the Rotterdam-Vienna corridor.
Demonstration means testing in reality and substantiated with scientific research.
Questions answered in this project can be subdivided into 4 areas, namely Technical,
Economic, Social and Institutional.
Looking for international and regional logistics and transport companies, OEMs and
manufacturers and knowledge institutions, Autohöfe/Raststätte as well as
chargepointoperators.
Example organizations are members of Council Nachhaltige Logistik, MAN, Smatrics,
Kreisel, TU Vienna/Graz, AIT, Austriatech, LandZeit.

Partners for International Business Programmes are part of The Netherlands’
economic diplomacy. During a period of intense cooperation with a chosen country or
region, these programmes aim to enhance economic growth in a chosen economic
area. Our PIB-programme focuses on cooperation between Austria and The
Netherlands in the field of e-mobility and its relation to the energy system. Within this
field, extra focus will be placed on zero-emission tourism, zero-emission heavy
transport & distribution, and smart charging. Our programme was rolled out in Vienna
on the 31st January at the residence of the Dutch ambassador. It will run until the end
of 2019. During this period, we will present the PIB and the Dutch approach in these
chosen areas at appropriate events, organise missions to both countries and facilitate
the build-up and exchange of knowledge and insights. In this way, networks between
