Behavior Modification vs. Transformation

Behavior Modification (OUTSIDE-IN)

• Perfects the work on your job (Performance)

• Incentive-Based (External Reward)

• Victim of external (Outside) circumstances

Transformation (INSIDE-OUT)

• Perfects the work on your person (or character)

• Identity-Based (Internal Reward)

• Victor of external (Outside) circumstances

The key to transformation is the condition of your heart and mind.

Survival

Answer:

Provide a place of safety.

We MUST move out of survival mode to support our community.

In theory..... Our goal is to get here.

In the absence of physical safety – due to war,

natural disaster, family violence, childhood abuse,

etc. – people may (re) experience post-traumatic

stress disorder or transgenerational trauma.

This level is more likely to be found in children

because they generally have a greater need to feel

safe. (Source: Wikipedia)

Safety and Security needs include:

• Personal security

• Financial security

• Health and well-being

• Safety net against accidents/illness and their

adverse impacts
