www.whoseview.ie is Ireland’s new social
review based website that enables consumers
rant or rave local services from restaurants, bars,
beauty salons, hairdressers, butchers, cafes,
fashion shops, car dealers etc. The site was
launched on July 17th 2009 with 38,000 Dublin
businesses and close to 650 customer reviews.
The goal is to concentrate on city locations,
moving to Galway and Cork in September,
before launching into the UK in early 2010.
With consumer’s now trusting customer
recommendations more than any other medium,
www.whoseview.ie ultimate goal is to help
people make informed decisions through trusted
connections. Secondary to this is the facilitation
of conversations between consumers and
businesses/brands.
The site contains a number of exciting and
unique features for a customer review website.
Some of these are:
1. Search and filter top rated services by
category, ranking and area e.g. 1 of 65
restaurants in Ballsbridge, 3 of 40 dry
cleaners in North City Centre.
2. Monitor the likes, dislikes and
recommendations of your trusted network of
friends via your private dashboard.
3. Recommend and share special offers with
your friends as posted by businesses on
WhoseView.
4. Be kept informed of your favourite businesses
in terms of reviews and offers through our
notification tracker.
5. Receive recommendations via your
dashboard on services and offers deemed to
match your personal preferences.
6. Earn WhoseView points for action, whereby
10 points = €0.01 cent and can be redeemed
against exclusive offers posted to
WhoseView.
There are multiple ways businesses and brands
can engage in WhoseView, from building their
profile, conversing privately with reviewers,
leveraging their reviews via RSS/Widgets, to
sponsoring premium listings similar to Google.
More information can be found on the business
owner’s page on WhoseView.
www.whoseview.ie was founded by Helen
McCarthy and Michael McFionbhear in
partnership with Lightbox Multimedia. They are
also supported by Enterprise Ireland.
To celebrate the launch of www.whoseview.ie,
everyone who posts a review before August 31st
2009, is entered into a draw to win a €250
shopping voucher for Dundrum Town Centre.

“International trade can be daunting
when you don’t know your ro/ro from
your lo/lo,” says Lara Walsh, Online
Business Developer for freightfox.ie.
“At least that’s what I felt like when I
first came on board to develop the
FreightFox website. It’s been my
challenge to transfer the expertise
demonstrated in the pages of the
Irish Supply Chain Management
Services Directory to an online
medium in a meaningful way. And I
think we’re getting there.”
freightfox.ie helps those looking to export to find
companies that ship to/from Ireland to all over the
world. It also provides a place for people new to
international trade to find out information through
its freight dictionary and freight news sections.
“Malahide Promotions has been publishing the
freight directory for over twenty years now. We’ve
seen many competitors come and go and I like to
think the fact that we’re still in existence is
because we know this industry better than most,”
commented Ms Walsh. “Going online means we
get the opportunity to expand our position as the
‘go to’ place for Irish based firms to get information
on operators using, providing and servicing the
freight industry in Ireland.”
The re-designed freightfox website will go live this
August and the latest edition of the Irish Supply
Chain Management Services Directory is available
to purchase online from the 6th of July for €44
(plus VAT and P&P).

Blue-Spire Ltd offer a cost-effective, easy &
secure way to backup company data as an
alternative to manual tape backup systems from
as little as €23 per month for a small business.
Blue-Spire Ltd is the brainchild of industry IT
expert Ken Gummerson who has over 20 years
experience in the field of information & computer
technology. According to Ken, ‘We differ from
other online data security providers in Ireland in
terms of the technology we use & security we
can provide. Blue-Spire goes a step further than
the standard offering. We researched the best-in-
class providers globally, then tailored and priced
the service competitively for the Irish market.
Currently, we are the only providers of this level of
service in Ireland’.
Blue-Spire backup use the highest levels of on-
line banking and military-grade encryption
available (128-bit SSL and 448-bit Blowfish). This
ensures data is secure during transportation via
the internet and during storage. Data is stored
remotely off site in a state-of-the-art, purpose
built data centre in the US. Data is double-backed
up to a second location and both facilities are
built to withstand 7.5 magnitude earthquakes and
run on their own diesel generators.
The service can be set-up within 1 hour,
technicians don’t have to call out to the office, so
there is minimal disruption to business during set-
up. In the event of data loss, Blue-Spire’s system
can start to restore saved data in a matter of
minutes.
The
process of backing up data in
a small business is usually performed using
manual tapes. It is an essential task in order to
protect the information held on computers. In the
event of files being lost, the backup data system
should hold a second copy of the missing files.
However, tapes have proven unreliable &
expensive at the best of times. Trying to recover
lost data can be crippling, both in terms of lost
business and the money spent trying to restore it.
The cost of maintaining a tape backup system for
a small business can reach €1.4K per year. Blue-
Spire offer a simple, automatic, secure on-line
backup service starting at €23 per month based
on for a small office with 1-3 people on a server.
Other business packages are available from Blue-
Spire including home packages from €10 a
month.
Blue-Spire Ltd is based in Bailieborough,
Co. Cavan, tel: 042 9694724 or website
