Al Biruni was an impartial writer on custom and creeds of various nations, and was given the title Al Ustadh (“The Master”) for his remarkable description of early 11th century India. He also made contributions to Earth Sciences, and is regarded as the ‘father of Geodesy’ for his important contributoins to that field, along with his significant contributions to geography.

Challenge BahrainCHALLENGE BAHRAIN will once again break new grounds in the triathlon world as the world’s largest half distance triathlon

The event will be taking place on 20th November 2015 in the Kingdom of Bahrain where thousands of athletes and spectators from around the world will be taking part in the 113km challenge, which includes a 1.9km swim, 90km bike followed by a 21.1km run.

The course is designed to take athletes through a remarkable journey in the northeast side of the Kingdom of Bahrain where the majority of action will be taking place in Amwaj Islands; a group of six man-made islands each offering a truly enviable lifestyle and a vibrant community.

Located at the heart of Amwaj Islands, the swim leg will be taking place at The Lagoon as the sun sets; the athletes will then complete the bike and run during the evening along a well-lit course. The unique format allows all finishers to enjoy the festive night-time finish line celebrations normally reserved for longer distance races.

CHALLENGE BAHRAIN will also double as the grand final of the prestigious Nasser Bin Hamad Triple Crown which will see Daniela

Ryf (SUI) and Terenzo Bozzone (NZL), race against the world’s best in a bid to become triathlon’s first instant millionaires.

CHALLENGE BAHRAIN is an inspiring event open to athletes of all abilities over the age of sixteen. Participants are welcome to join and complete the challenge either individually or as a team comprised of 2-3 members. The much – anticipated action from CHALLENGE BAHRAIN will be broadcast on TV across the Middle East and Europe.

If you could change anything in Amwaj, what would it be? I think the islands could benefit with more emphasis on security aspects such as cameras and security staff.

What events do you look forward to in Amwaj? It would be nice if they could have more events to do with Children’s Education, maybe a traveling bookstore!
