GENERAL AUDIENCE

Wednesday, 26 August 2015

Dear Brothers and Sisters: In our continuing catechesis on the family, today we

reflect on the importance of devoting time to prayer. We all know how important

prayer is, yet it seems so difficult to find time for it. Perhaps we need to ask if we

truly love God, as he asks us to, with all our heart, and all our mind and all our

strength. For the heart of prayer is the love of God, the source of our life, who

constantly “caresses” us with his own love. A heart filled with the love of God can

make even a silent thought or a small gesture of devotion a moment of prayer.

The Holy Spirit teaches us to pray, to call God our Father, and to grow daily in his

love. Our families need to ask for the gift of the Spirit! Through prayer, even in

the busiest times, we give time back to God, we find the peace that comes from

appreciating the important things, and we encounter the joy of God’s unexpected

gifts. Through daily prayer may our homes become, like the house of Martha and

Mary, places where Jesus always finds a warm welcome. www.Vatican.va

Update of our Refugee Family Our refugee family is settling in well. We are helping them with their English and they also have a Rosetta Stone

program to work on. Mid September they begin classes in ESL at the Multicultural Society while their son will be in child

care at the Society – all for free. Our group have also been taking them out for shopping, dining and to the parks and

lakes. They are very grateful for all that has been done for them. We are organizing a pot luck supper for the 26th of

September at 5:00pm at Immaculate Conception so we can have an opportunity to meet them. So please pencil it in. And

many thanks for your generous support!

The trip to the Philippines will include Eucharistic Congress and tour of few islands in the region. For those interested,

please contact Fr. Rector Tolentino at 1-250-964-4424 or e-mail [email protected]. For more information about

Halt distribution of the RU-486 abortion pill Join us in asking federal Health Minster Rona Ambrose to intervene to halt distribution of the RU-486 abortion pill.

Her email address is [email protected]. Letters can also be sent postage free: Health Minister Rona Ambrose,

Share the truth about doctor-assisted suicide The federal government has launched a consultation process on doctor-assisted suicide. It will conduct public

consultations and receive online submissions before proposing legislative options this fall. We know the government

listens to those who take the time to write or email. Please submit your views on this critical subject and sign up for

notifications on the consultation process at ep-ce.ca/en/consultation.

Let us stand together in defence of human life from conception to its natural end!
