Due to ongoing COVID 19 restrictions, many of our usual events will not take place this year. SCRWC enjoys giving financial support and donations to various local organizations, such as the Germantown Library and the Republican Party of Shelby County. SCRWC also contributes every year to the TFRW Iris Fund PAC, but unfortunately the Iris Fund Luncheon/ Silent Auction planned for September in Nashville has been cancelled. At the National level, our Club standardly monetarily supports the NFRW Endowment and Trust Funds, as well as others. With few meetings or in-person events, we have not been able to replenish our Operating account from which these donations come. If our Club members and friends who normally attend the annual SCRWC Red, White and Blue Picnic could instead donate their $25 dinner cost, these monetary donations would assist us with building up our Operating account. In lieu of paying for the Picnic, make out your $25 check to SCRWC and mail to: Soheila Kail, Treasurer, 2264 W. Glenalden, Germantown, TN 38139. To donate via PayPal, go to the SCRWC web page scrwc.org. If you would like to purchase a cute, pink “Keep America Great” Trump 2020 cap, your purchase would help in raising money for the SCRWC Political Action Committee (see photo on right). e cap price is $20. Shelby County Republican Women’s Club PICNIC CANCELLATION NOTICE

We regret to announce that we have canceled our Annual SCRWC Red, White and Blue Picnic that had been planned for Tuesday, August 11. With the current COVID-19 case spikes in Shelby County, we determined that gathering together in a large group for the Picnic could have posed potential health and safety risks for our attendees.

Thanks to Patti Possel, Gus and Arla Pribnow, and our local candidates for creating another great SCRWC video meeting in July. Even though I had really hoped for us to have the Red, White and Blue Picnic this year, based on the current COVID 19 case spikes, we determined that it was best to cancel. It just did not seem safe for our attendees, and it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Since we are still unable to meet in person, the main focus of our club should now be aimed at campaigning for our candidates and getting out the vote. The SignUp Genius for Republican Headquarters has been sent out twice and only a few people have responded. Now is the time to wear your mask and volunteer for a two hour slot with only a few other people, no crowd to worry about. Wednesday is SCRWC’s day to fill, but you can choose any day. We also need to be helping Paul Boyd with his schedule for holding up his sign at voting polls. Look for his SignUp Genius as well. If you need help with that, call our Campaign Chair Patti Russell. This year’s election may actually be the most important one in modern time for conservatives. Our way of life and values are being challenged, and our country is certainly going to be very different if the Democrats take the White House and Congress. Socialism will be creeping into our country a little more every day. All of President Trump’s reforms and improvements will be eradicated very quickly. Please try to campaign for our candidates. We must get President Trump re-elected and our great Tennessee Republicans as well.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 6SHELBY COUNTY GENERAL ELECTION FEDERAL/STATE PRIMARY ELECTIONBy Dee Nollner

November 3rd -- The Big One!! The biggest and last election of the year, the Presidential Election, begins with Early Voting, October 14 – 29. The 26 Early Voting sites around Shelby County will be open and using safe practices. If you can possibly arrange to vote early, do so. If you are absolutely unable to vote early, then Absentee Voting is available. The first date to request an Absentee Ballot is August 5, and the deadline to request is October 27. Make your request as soon as you are sure you will not be able to vote early. Once that absentee request is submitted, absentee becomes the only method you can vote in that election. TN U.S. Senator, 8th and 9th U.S. Congressional District candidates, TN District 32 Senate, the State Representative for your District, as well as some officers in five of the suburban cities will be on the November 3rd ballot. Your vote is important, use it! In Tennessee, you must be registered at least 30 days before Election Day and have a Federal or TN state government issued photo ID, even expired is acceptable, as long as it was issued by one of these two governments. Registration deadline is October 5. If you have moved within the county since you last voted, please update your address now. Remember, if you mailed in your registration, you must vote in person the first time you vote in Tennessee. If you registered in person, you are able to vote absentee the first time, but if you registered by mail you must vote in person the first time you vote. You will always need that photo ID in order to vote in Tennessee. If you have a Tennessee driver’s license, you may be able to register by mail. For additional information, go to shelbyvote.com or goVoteTN.com. You can learn your districts from either of those sites.
