Record Book Information
Record Book Workshop
When: Monday, August 12th at 6:00 pm Where: Chickasaw County Extension Office What: This workshop will cover what information should be included in a record book, the proper order, and will help answer any questions that you have regarding the record books. Why: Because it’s an important record-keeping skill to learn! Also, youth who turn in a record book this fall will receive a $10 credit towards their enrollment fees!! Please let us know if you are planning to attend. You bring your records. We will have hot dogs, chips, and drinks!
Record Books and Award Nominations are due to Extension Office no later than September 20th
If you are an intermediate or Senior 4-Her, you can apply for a project award. To apply you must be enrolled in the pro-ject area for at least two years, provide your record book and other supporting materials.
Record Book Information, Forms, and Award Applications can be found on the website at https://www.extension.iastate.edu/chickasaw/content/recordkeeping-project-awards or you can pick up forms at the Extension Office from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Recommended Order:
1. COVER PAGE
*Should include a current picture, name, address, club, grade, and years in 4-H (do not include little clover years)
2. YEARLY SUMMARY
*Fill out completely and include current year
3. NON-PROJECT RELATED 4-H PICTURES AND CLIPPINGS
4. PROJECT RECORD FORM:
Basic (Junior), Experienced (Intermediate), Advanced (Senior)
HELPFUL HINTS:
• Three-ring binders work best as your book starts to fill up fast.
• If you fill one binder, you may start another. Make sure it is clearly labeled (Chris Clover-Lucky Clovers 4-H Club-Book #2). Also do not start over with anoth-er title page, yearly summary, etc. in the additional book. Just start with the next project area in that book. Each year’s Project Record Form in a particular project area should stay together. There shouldn’t be a few years of Food & Nutrition in one book and then a few years of Food & Nutrition work in another book.
• It is recommended you neatly print in ink or type.
Remember:
*If you are applying for an award you will need to fill out an application along with your record book.
*Project areas may be in any order, but are more easily located if they are in alphabetical order.
*Each project area should have a divider with a tab for easy reference.
*Include the current year and up to two years of previous records for each project area. Except when applying for Outstanding 4-H’er, then include all years of project rec-ords.
*Certain areas also have an additional worksheet that needs to be completed. Those areas include: Beef, Dairy, Dog, Horse, Sheep, Meat Goat, Swine, Rabbit, Poultry, Crops, Horticulture, and Photography.
*Fair goal sheets may also be included in the appropriate area, but the actual ribbons should be left out of the Rec-ord Book.
*Each project area should have the most current year in the front of each section. Clippings or photos should be kept with the forms for the appropriate year.
*Record Books are due to the Extension Office no later than September 20th.
*Award nominations are due September 20th.
