Breslin Social Media SuccessesNancy Breslin has found that social media pays off. Thissummer her pinhole photography was written about in theLong Beach Island (NJ) SandPaper. The journalist wassearching for interesting references to Beach Haven onTwitter and found Nancy's work (hashtagged!), then arrangeda Skype interview. The article is in print and online. Nancykeeps an active presence on twitter and instagram (both@nbres) and on tumblr, puts occasional videos on vimeo andyoutube, and has her own website, which focuses on herphotography but features her scriptwriting as well

Tracey Thompson, Writer! Tracey L. Thompson startedcoming to WIFV DCScreenwriting Events aftermeeting Monica Lee Bellais ata workshop, and later became aWIFV DC member. Monicabecame her screenwritingmentor. Since 2014 Tracey hasadapted her published book,Fatropolis the Novel into ascreenplay and tv pilot, and haswritten two original screenplays.One of those original screenplaysis A GOOD MARINE, which wasfeatured in the Spotlight on Screenwriter's Catalogue (2016),and now has placed as a Finalist in the Toronto InternationalScreenwriting Competition. The inspiration for A GOODMARINE came from all the men in Tracey's family who haveserved in the US Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, in everymajor war or Conflict since WWI. Tracey's experiencesworking as a barber for the USMC, and her later workteaching Marine's and their families resiliency skills for theFocus Project, also served as inspiration. However, thesuicide of her brother-in-law (a prison guard), four years agowas the catalyst for the story to come to life. The questionthat begged an answer was: What would happen if a suicidalMarine could see the consequences of suicide beforedeciding on that permanent solution? A GOOD MARINE isthat story.

Bustamante Walks Red Carpet Past WIFV PresidentRebecca Bustamantewalked the red carpet atthe 9th La JollaInternational FashionFilm Festival in SanDiego this July and wasinterviewed by JessicaWest of Xcorpstelevision. Rebecca washonored to be a festival screening director and an awardspresenter for Best Set Design (winner, FUTUREHOOD). Shewas joined on the red carpet by her mother Marilyn Merriam,executive producer of Fashion Forward Entertainment AuroraDeiri, and LA film costume supervisor Jasmine Deiri. Thisyear's festival featured the first-ever social action forum on thefashion industry moderated by Paloma Diaz Soloaga andTsailii Rogers, and brought together industry professionalsfrom around the globe.

Hurt Wraps on New Feature Carletta S. Hurt of IKAMProductions just completed filming inVirginia of the upcoming feature film,JACQUELINE AND JILLY. She is oneof the producers on the project led byaward-winning actress, VictoriaRowell, who wrote the script. Rowellalso starred in and directed theproject.

The story follows a young woman,played by Nikko Austen Smith, who descends into opioidaddiction while recovering from a serious injury. Local veteranactors, Tim and Daphne Reid, are also in the film. Days FerryProductions is the Executive Producer of JACQUELINE ANDJILLY. A December screening is projected for the DC area.
