BIBLE CODES
A pastor decides to visit some
of his flock on a Saturday after-
noon. He knocks at a door.
Her thinks he hears someone
inside but no one comes to the
door. The pastor takes out a
business card and writes on it
Rev 3:20 which says, "I stand at
the door and knock if you but
open the door I will come in
and eat with you and you with
me."
On Sunday his card appears in
the collection plate on it is writ-
ten Gen 3:10 that says, " I heard
your voice from the garden but
I was afraid I was naked and I
hid myself."
What US state is mentioned in the bible? Answer: Arkansaw. "Noah looked out of the ark and saw..."
Get your quilts…. One Sunday after church Mom
asked her very young daughter
what the lesson was about. Her
daughter answered "Don't be
scared, you'll get your quilts."
Needless to say, mom was per-
plexed. Later in the day, the
Pastor stopped by for tea. Mom
asked him what that morning's
Sunday school lesson was about.
He said "Be not afraid, thy com-
forter is coming."

For years the U.S. Marine Corps has been “looking for a few good men.” Not
everyone qualifies for this highly disciplined and well-respected company of
fighters who have a tremendous history of leading the way in battle. Every recruit
must be able to survive a series of grueling physical and mental challenges as part
of their preparation.
Similarly, the leadership team here at Calvary has a tremendous history of leading the way in spiritual
warfare. And with the demands of service and the busyness of life, every leader experiences a vari-
ety of physical, mental, and spiritual challenges. Exhaustion, both physically and spiritually, is al-
ways a concern that I have for our leadership.
Any leader, if not careful, can be so busy working for the Lord that you actually stop enjoying the
Lord. David cried out to God, “May we be refreshed as by streams in the desert” Psalms 126:4
(TLB). It is not the spirit that is exhausted but rather the struggle to remain in alignment with the
spirit. Oswald Chambers said, “Spiritual exhaustion is never the result of sin, but of service.
Whether or not you experience exhaustion will depend on where you get your supplies.”
“REFRESH: GROWING DEEPER WITH GOD” LEADER’S RETREAT will be an opportu-
nity for all of our leadership to grow closer to God and to each other. I would like for all of our
teachers (all age groups), deacons, ministry leaders, committee members, instrumentalists, choir, and
staff to join me for this one night retreat at Camp Harris (Minden) on Friday, August 24th. There will
be times of teaching, singing, sharing, and confessing. We will worship and pray and observe the
Lord’s Supper together. This will be a great opportunity for all of us to be refreshed and become
even stronger leaders.
I am looking forward to this retreat and spending time with you.
Every one of you means so much to me and I
love you very much,
Pastor Bill

Fall Choir Project This fall our choir will be teaming up with St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church and First Baptist Dubach to present Lift Up Your Eyes, A Musical of Hope to our community. You may re-call the energy and passion our church experienced last year through partnership with another church. I am excited about what God will do this year as well! Choir practice for this project will begin on August 19th at 4:00 p.m. in our worship center. Mime Team Our youth mime team Truth in Action will begin meeting again on Sunday August 19th (time TBA). This creative drama ministry conveys spiri-tual truths through pantomime and thematic interpretation of music. This group is available to all Calvary high school students grades 9-12. If you are interested in learning more about this group, contact Michelle Tolar at 202-5060. Fall Children’s Music Beginning August19 at 5:30 p.m. children Pre K – Grade 6 will be learning music for the Christmas season and will all come together for a pres-entation in early December. Along with working on a specific project, it is our plan to help children learn about music and worship so that they can lead out in these areas as they grow older. If you have a child in this age range, please make plans to bring them to rehearsal each week. Worship Team We are seeking additional singers, instrumentalists, and Audio / Visual technicians for our worship services this fall. If you feel called to serve in any of these areas, please contact Cary Tolar. THANKS! I want to express my gratitude to Jerry Johnson and his team for all the time and energy they invested in our church’s 65th anniversary cele-bration. There were many people who worked behind the scenes to make this special day a reality. God bless you for your service to the Lord!
