Program Highlights

The Scholastic Book Fair raised almost $3,000 for the media center.

The Indian Knoll News Team started daily broadcasts.

New materials were ordered, including Marcy Cook math teacher resource books, books on CD, and 100 character education titles.

The media specialist attended the Cherokee County media specialists meeting.

Twenty-two students attended two meetings of the Firebirds Book Club.

The media specialist updated the media center website, media center blog, and front lobby kiosk.

Whole Class Lessons Taught

38 orientation sessions All students in kindergarten through sixth grade were trained on the media center’s rules and procedures.

22 lessons Kindergarten – Students attended weekly storytime. Storytime themes included book care, color and school words, and rhyming words. 1st grade – Students learned about story elements using the books The Little Red Hen and Manana Iguana. 2nd grade – Students learned about story elements using the books The Gingerbread Man and The Gingerbread Cowboy. 3rd grade – Students learned about story elements using the book The Library Dragon. 4th grade – Students learned how to use Destiny to search for books and then they practiced with partners. 6th grade – Students learned how to use Grolier online to assist with coursework in general and science fair projects in particular.
